BASEBALL LEAGUE
WILL BE FORMED

Definite plan for formation of
powerful basebaU league will get
under way tonight when manager!
and representatives of 10 teams from
southern Oregon and northern Cali
fornia meet at the Ashland Armory
at 8:00 p. ra. to elect league officers
and draft a playing schedule.
From southern Oregon will come
managers of seven teams: Grants
Pass, Roseburg. Mcdford, .Ashland.
Eagle Point. Klamath Pelicans and
Ewana of Klamath Falls, and from
northern California Hilt. Yreka and
Montague will be represented.
- Tentative plans developed so far by
Haight of the Medford Merchants.
Hoffard of Eagle Point and interested
parties In Ashland call for a pl&ylng
schedule to begin June 4 and ena
August 31, with the championship
playoff. In case the split season is
decided upon, to bo plsyed the last
Sunday In August and the first two
In September.
Plans, at present, do not call for a
10-team league, but with that num
ber of teams represented at the meet
ing, a compact league of six or pos
sibly eight clubs can be expected to
be formed.
Ashland Is working with Height on
the possibility of using the fair
grounds for both teams' home games,
Ashland has no playing field In Ash
land, a city ordinance banning Sun
day baseball within the city limits.
However if that Idea doesn't work
out, Ashland will play their home
games at Talent.
Anyone Interested In baseball and
wishing to attend the meeting at
Ashland Is cordially Invited,

csntro knocked Frlsbte out and Ander
eon, Frlsble'e pal, took a poke at
Belcaatro Just for fun, Belcaatro be
came peeved at Anderson and poked
back, with the reault that the oops
stopped the affair and Belcastro Is
sued a challenge to Anderson to
wrestle.

called off last night, due to the down
pour of rain, and will be played at
