catlonal system Is tottering for lack
of Intelligent building "expenditures,
and the timber Industry offers a
prop.
As obsolete school houses are aban
doned or destroyed by storm, fire or
earthquake, he said, they should be
replaced by a new type of cheap
wooden edifice.
"School buildings of the future
need not be like the present white
elephants, which become obsolete be
fore the bonds that paid for them
are retired," he said.
"These costly buildings with glgan
tlo carrying charges, overhead and
tied up Investments are largely re
sponsible for high taxes, low collec

eloeed schools.
"Here's the remedy which lumber
men and archltecta are offering:
"A one-story wooden building, built
like a hollow square, many-windowed
with heating plant outside, oostlng
extremely little and having virtually
no owrhead."
