senior high school auditorium on

characters, seven boys and seven
girls chosen from the senior elsss.
Anna Mae Puson Is taking an Im
portant lead In this year's senior play
a "Mrs. Flomlng," a very difficult
role becsuse the person Is overly ac-
, tlve and very Inquisitive. Mrs. Flem
ing holds herself aloof end considers
other people, especially men. un
trustworthy. Tom Ruson Is playing the role of
Sergeant Dougherty," who has a
very difficult time In tracking the
thief who stole the rubles. This Is
Fuson's second apearance on the
stage.
The part of Susie, the maid, Is fill
ed by Mabel Miller. Bhe has won
pralae at rflheeraala for the way she
interprets the part, Miss Miller has
made very few appearances upon the
tsge but she has been very active
In school life.

Oeorge J. Preacott, one of the beat
loved and most highly regarded Lions
of Med ford, Oregon. Lion Preacott
waa a constable, and while In line of
duty, serving ft warrant lnsued by a
court of law, he waa shot dead with
out warning by the man for whom
the warrant had been taken out.

NIGHT IN ME
Many a stein was tipped again at
the old United Btatea' hotel at Jack
sonville Monday night and the "days
of old. the days of gold" were revived
for many as the well known hostelry
echoed with songs and strains of
dance tunes until (and after) the
midnight hour, as Legionnaires and
members of the Auxiliary were enter
tained by the pioneer comrades.
There were aoo guests In attend
ance from Metlford and Jacksonville
and several surrounding towns, Herb
Alford. commander of the Oranta
pass post, and Mrs. Altord were pres
ent from that city and Lane Ooodell
from the Portland post.
The "Dutch" lunch, with which
the evening's entertainment opened,
waa followed by dancing. Music was
furnished by the Jacksonville or
