Miss BulUs Chairman
of Benefit Bridge Party.
Mia Helen Bullls Is chairman of
the large party to be held In the
city club rooms Friday afternoon as
a benefit to aid the membership
drive of the Jackson County Public
Health Association, which will open
May 1. With, members of the execu
tive board of the Greater Medford
club she will complete arrangements
for the affair, which promises to be
one of the outstanding events of the
spring season. Interesting all club
groups and health workers through
out the county.
All women who enjoy an afternoon
at cards are asked to form their
own tables and enjoy tea at the club
rooms. The small fee to be charged
for the afternoon's events will bring
with It for each person in attendance
a membership In the health associa
tion, without further cost..
The next meeting of the Greater
Medford Club. It was announced yes
terday between party plans, win oe
held Monday. May 1. Election of ef-
flcers will be In order and Important
business will be transacted, calling
for a large attendance.

Plans Spring Carnival.
At the meeting of the Washington
Parent-Teacher Association last Fri
day plans were made for a May fete
to be held about the middle of the
month. New officers were elected
and the following were the success
ful candidates: Mrs. Jack. Heyland,
president; Mrs. Carl Bennett, vice
president; Mrs. W. H. Cool, secretary,

Several speakers brought Inspiring
messages to the group. Mrs. I. E.
Schuler reviewed the address of Mrs.
Sadie Orr Dunbar on child health
work, recently given at the home of

Garden Club Committee
. Plans for Annual Show.
The home of Mrs. A. E. Reames
was the meeting place yesterday of
members of the annual flower show
committee of the Medford Garden
club. Plans for the annual show,
dates for which have been changed
to May 31 and June 1 were thorough
ly outlined as Mrs. Reames, the club
president, leaves today for a trip to
the national capital with Mr. Reames.
She will return, however, before the
garden show. The lateness of blos
soms as a result of cold weather has
necessitated postponement of the show
and It Is hoped that the new dates
chosen will find all early summer
flowers In their prime.
Attending the meeting yesterday
were Mrs. Lewis TJlrlch, Mrs. Leland
Mentzer, Charles Voorhles, Mrs. H. D.
McCaskey and Misses Helen and Mae
Carlton.
Post-Delphlans Invite
Guests to Meeting
It Is tomorrow morning that Hon
E. B. Day will address the Post-Del-phtan
club at the courthouse audi
torium at 10 o'clock, and an Invita
tion to interested men and women of
the city has been Issued by the club.
Legislation passed at the last session
will be discussed by the local repre
sentative, who will place special em
phasis upon the sales tax.
Pcet-Delphlans are asked to be at
the auditorium at 9:30 to complete
business before the program opens,

Card Party at Parish
Hall Interests Many.
Numerous social groups are mak
ing plans to meet at parish hall this
evening for the card party planned
by St. Ann's Altar society as the first
of a series to grace the spring and
summer c alendar. Bridge, auction
and contract, and 600 will be played.
Guests are asked to arrive at 8
o'clock.
Daughters of Nile
Plan May Festival

will observe the arrival of the month
of May with appropriate festivity
They have announced a festival for
May 5 at the Masonic temple. The
party will be a costume affair and
very Informal. Guests are requested
to wear gingham frocks, 'rags' or cos
tumes. There will be prize dances
and refreshments and much glety, Is
the forecast.
Music for dancing will be played
by Whipple's orchestra. The party Is
planned as a benefit to finance the
patrol trip and the committee making
arrangements is composed of Mrs. Al
bert E. Peasley, Mrs. O. D. Frazee,
Mrs E. H. Hedrlck. Mrs. Paul Ryn-

Announces Benefit
May 0 is the date announced by
the city council of the Parent-Teachers'
association for a benefit dessert
bridge party at the Junior hlgn
school auditorium. The party has
been arranged to raise funds to send
a delegate to the national P.-T. A.
convention in Seattle next month.
St. Mark's Guild "
To Meet Fitch Home
There will be a meeting of St.
Mark's Guild next Friday afternoon
at 3.30 o'clock, at tr-e home of Mrs.
Fitch at Phoenix. A large attend
ance Is anticipated.
The Grants Pass Garden Club will
sponsor a tulip show at tht Rlvoll
theater In Grants Pass next Friday
and Saturday, It was anonunced to
day. Southern Oregon tulpls are at
their best now and advance reports
indicate there will a large display of
the beautiful flowers. Jackson coun
ty growers are Invited to enter their
choice tulips.
Sterling G. Mendenhail, manager ox
the Rlvoll theater, will give fifteen
pieces of pewter ware to the fifteen
first prize winners. Other winners
will receive ribbons. Prizes will be
Riven for the best single, the best
three and the best six, all colors and
for the best mixed basket and the
best single color basket.
Manager Mendenhail says he win
hold the display over Sunday for the
benefit of Medford people who wish
to attend.
PUBLIC COURSE
The Medford Public Golf course
will stage a spring tournament open
to all golfers of the Rogue River
valley. Qualifying round for eight
een holes will take place next Sat
urday and Sunday to determine
pairings. Elimination play to be
concluded each Sunday following or
game forfeited. Weather permitting,
the tournament will be concluded
by the end of May.
Suitable prizes will be awarded
winners and runner-up In all flights
and a most attractively low green
fee will prevail for the occasion with
no entrance fee for participants.
F. W. Chausse, owner of the
course, says the fairways and greens
are In prime' condition and offer a
much better chance for par than
last year, when the course was play
ed In par but once. On that oc
casion Keith Baughman made a
going one under the goal.
So far no one has made a hole
in one, even though there are two
holes, a 145 and 165 yard invitation,
but the best so far on these holes
has been birdies. More details may

the valley. Difficult numbers were
mastered In a very pleasing and sur
prising polished manner by the
young players and the voice of Eliz
abeth Southwell, soloist, added much
beauty to the program.
