rebuilding their chicken house and

Mrs. Nellie Smith of Gold Kill, and
Mrs. Nina Dusenberry called on Mrs.
Eva Newton Friday afternoon. Mrs.
Newton, who spent three months in
Portland with her daughter, Mrs.
Mary Sutherland, says she Is glad
to be back home, where the sun
shines.
Mr. and Mrs. M H. Busby, who
have been staying with C. E. Miller
for the past three months during the
absence of Mrs. Eva Newton, have
rented their place In Miller Gulch
and gone to San Francisco.
Mr. and Mrs. Croft and family had
as Easter guests Felton Hagerman and
Ivan Neathammer of Grants Pass,
Mary Wild of Gold Hill and Jess
Starns. The young folks had planned
a picnic to Table Rock, but did not
go because of the cold, stormy wea
ther.
Dr. Gltcen was called from- Med
ford Tuesday morning to B. A. Du
senberry 's. They had a sick horse,
but report It slowly Improving now.
Cal Dusenberry, who has been min
ing on John Smith's place, moved
his mining machinery to Applegate
last week to do some prospecting for
Skeels and Von der Hellen.
Mrs. J. D. Starns of Grants Pase
arrived Friday and spent several days
with her mother, Mrs. Newton, dau
ghters, Mrs. Lily Dusenberry, Mrs.
Ida Wharton, Mrs. Evagene Smith and
other relatives, returning home Tues
day. Foultrymen here are not raising as
large flocks of baby chicks as usual,
but what they have are doing fine,
considering the late season.
The weather man hnd no respect
for picnic parties on Enster. A merry
party, constating of Mr. and Mrs. Eric
Werln, Mr. and Mrs. C. Putney and
nous, Dick and Jack,- Mr. and Mrs. C.
D. Elhart and children, Bobby, and
Dorothy, Mr. and Mrs. Homer Elhart
for a plcnio dinner and a search for
white lamb tongues, but. It being so
stormy they ate their dinner at Mr.
and Mrs. P. L Wait's. The party was
also honoring Mr. Bessie Elhart'
and her mother, Mrs. Eva Newton's
birthdays. The birthday cake was
an angel food, baked by Mrs. Walt.

matrlrfiony. Both Mr. and Mrs. Smith
spent most of their childhood here,
the bride being a daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. J. D. Starns of Grants Pass,
and the groom a son of Mr. and Mrs.
W. J. Smith of Oold Hill. They are
at home to their friends in the new
bungalow, belonging to his grand
father, C. Vroman, near the mouth of
Gall's creek.

program at McLeod Friday evening.
After the business meeting a short
program was given by the school
children. Main feature of the even
ing was a talk by County Superin
tendent 0. R. Bowman, explaining
the four sources of school revenues
and giving other Information regard
ing recent legislation, and hinted at
possible changes In school manage
ment pending, to meet present and
future school emergencies. A goodly
number attended and appreciated this
opportunity of becoming enlightened
on subjects in which they have much
Interest.
A birthday dinner In honor of J. P.
Dlteworth, Sr., was given by friends
and relatives Easter Sunday at Mc
Leod. Grandpa Dtta worth is the old
est resident in these parts, having
homesteaded the present Frank Dtts-
wort place some 60 years ago.
Fishermen are again enjoying their
favorite sport In the many streams
hereabouts. Two local boys spent a
successful fishing trip at Lost creek
Sunday. A nice string of fish was
their proof.
This has been moving week in the
community. Jim Rodgers' family ha
moved from the Glass lanch to the
Frank Ditaworth ranch, where Mr.
Rodgers will take the place of Mr.
Jolllffe, who recently moved wttti his
family to their former home near
Aberdeen, Wash. Dale Jolllffe will
live with the Dasher family the re
mainder of the school term at Pros
pect high school.
Mr. and Mr. C. E. Cloe and boys
have moved from McLeod to make
their home on the Olass -niece. They
are at present tenting near the falls,

Mr. and Mrs. Fred Morgan have es
tablished themselves In. the Nether
land cabin on the old Derby road,
after residing In one of the McLeod
cabin for the winter.
