WEDNESDAY MEET
AH Intreested In the growing of to
matoes and tomato plants In the
Rogue River valley are urged to attend
the public meeting In the auditorium
of the court house Wednesday at 3
p. m.
Dr. Frank P. McWhorter of the Ore
gon State agricultural college will be
present to give growers some valuable
Information regarding the blight or
spot disease that has been threat
ening the tomato Industry In south
ern Oregon. Dr. McWhorter made
several Inspections and investigations
of conditions here last year, and the
college, In conjunction with the
county agent's office and Prof. F. C.
Relmer of the Southern Oregon. Ex
periment atation, are making a con
certed effort to' control this condi
tion. Local commercial canners and
greenhouse operators are also co-operating
In the movement.
It la very essential that every care
and precaution be exercised to com
bat and control this disease and thus
conserve an Important and growing
Industry In this part of the state.
Ralph E. Koozer, manager of the
Bagley Canning company, advises
t that they were careful In treating

eliminate the possibility of any seed
borne infection and that due pre
caution will be continued, to avoid.
If possible, unnecessary contamina
tion from kindred plants.
