club at the Hotel Medford,
Mr. Bollnsky announced that he
had received instruction from Wash
ington, D, C, to list the number of
unemployed in thia community In
view of work to be accomplished un
der the Reforestation bill. Construc
tion and Improvement of roads with
the money to be obtained was advised
by Mr. Bollnsky tn his talk to the
club In preference to actus refores
tation.
"Our hope la to get some ro&d
money for permanent Improvements,
Mr. Sollnaky stated.
He joined Judge Wiiiiam St-eel,
guest at the luncheon, In forecasting
an early opening of Crater Lake park
this spring and stated that Judge
Steel, known as father of Crater lake-
will probably be riding in the very
first car to cross the boundary. Hie
enthusiasm to get back Into his Cra
ter Lake home, he stated, is increas
ing with each day of spring.
An Interesting paper, recommend
ing 10 per cent dilution of gaso
line with farm products as an aid
to the agricultural interests of the
nation, was read by C& Y, Teng
wald and a short response was heard
from Flaviua West of the California
Oregon Power company, predicting
that such a plan would bring an im
portant increase in the gasoline tax.
Prank Glover, insurance man out
from Portland, waa a guest at the
luncheon and agreed with Tengwald
that the1-farmer, the producer of raw
wealth, is deserving of the first aid
forthcoming.
C. 8. Butterfleld was called upon
today to describe his recent trip to
San Francisco with the W. M. Clem'
ensons and gave a vivid review of his
trip across the ferry. The story cost
Mr. Clemenson a fine.
Coach Darwin K. Burgher also re
sponded to the ciub'a invitation to
talk as did OHn Araapiger and UT.

brother of Llewellyn A. Banks, who

ment for shooting Constable George
3. Pifscott. March 16 was a visitor
at the Grants Pass and Medford jails
Sundsy, calling on him brother, and
Mrs Banks, jointly indicted with her
husband.
The Californian, accompanied by
John A. H. Sturgeon of Monrovia,
said he had no statement to make
concerning the defense or counsel for
L. A. Banks, and that they were here
to find out the details of the case.
Mr. Banks said he found his broth
er in "high spirit Ir. the Josephine
coui'.ty Jail, and said his only hope
waa that L. A. Bank would be able
to sold up until &ttm the trial. The
two men stated the? did not plan to
remain here for any length of time,
but would probata! decide on the
attorneys to represent Mr. and Mrs.
Sank before leaving.
w. A. Banks last saw his brother
two jears ago, on ft trip south he
said Sunday, and at visit yesterday
revealed that the local man s health
did not seem aa good, he stated. Mr.
Sturgeon said that Banks had been
receiving excellent care in the Grants
Pass Jail.
The Tulunlft man received first re
ports of the murdej Che afternoon of
Msr& id, over the radio. He said
he nad not had time to communicate
with his brother, Clarence C. who
resides in Wakeman Ohio. He also
has a sister living in Cleveland.
ORDERS ISSUED IN
ANK LIQUIDATION
Orders were issued today In circuit
court, directing the sale of furniture
and stocic, in the liquidation of the
Ashland Citizens Bank of Ashland,
and the State Bank of Central Point,
recently closed.
The Ashland Citizens Bank seeks to
sell its furniture and equipment.
The State Bank of Central Point,
was also granted an order, pro rating
the expense of liquidation between
the commercial and savings depart
ments. It Is shown that the commer
cial department has assets of $88,
381.45, It will pay 68 per cent of the
expense. The saving department has
assets of 42 016 27, and will pay 32
per cent of the expense.
An order permitting the state nans
department to sell 64 head of cattle,
given in security by Theodore F. Toi
lefson, on a mortgage for $800, was
signed R. E. Richmon of Rogue River
offers $1000 for the stock.
An order was also granted giving
permission to sell the security for
an $844 mortgage given by J, J. Ray
and wife, for $400, which includes
payments.
Permission was also granted to sett
a Jersey cow for $30.

TO DINE TONIGHT
A covered dish supper, with all the
fixings, will draw a large attendance
of American Legion and auxiliary
members to the Armory tonight
Supper will be served at 8:30 p, m.
and will precede the usual semi
monthly business meetings of these
two well-known patrotlc organiza
tions. A number of important busi
ness matters are scheduled to come
up during tonight's ucglon meeting,
including plans for. a large represen
tatton at the Ashland post meeting
tomorrow. Capt&ln Overmeyer Is ex
pected to matte ft report tonight on
the progress of the- new service com
pany now being organized In the local
Legion post.
All Legionnaires and members of
the auxiliary are cordially invited to

business sessions at the Armory to

PASSES, AGED 66
William Edward Bryaon passed
away at his home on Orchard Home
Drive at an early hour Monday morn
ing, after a long illness, at the age
of 68. Mr. Bryson had bees a resi
dent of the Griffin creek district fat
the past 24 years, and leave many
friends and acquaintances.
He waa bora January 9, Wmt at
Iowa City, Iowa, and came to Jack
son county in 1906, He was united
in marriage to Mrs. Srysoti Feb. 32,
1BB6, at Indianols, lows. They leave
no children.
His widow, Nora Bryaon, survives;
also one sister, Mrs. Harry Watson
of Indi&noia, Iowa, one brother, H
Bryson of Fort Dcige, Iowa.

Toliefson entered a plea of guilty
before Circuit Judge H. D. Norton,
and was sentenced to two years and
six months, a severe sentence under
the Oregon law covering his crime.
Robert Gienn, who in September,
1$31, attempted to hold up the bank
with a gun, and at whom Toliefson
fined shots, to halt hit flight tn ft
rented auto, was found guilty by
Jury, and sentenced to serve IK years
