THROW SCARE IN STATE

SALEM, March J7. (AP) Athena high, atiU a novelty In championship
considerations, perched along with Lincoln high, Aitorla and Saleu In the
semMlnaU of the state basketball tournament which win be played here
tonight. And thia tournament town could not be much further shocked now
If Athena were crowned champion tomorrow night.
The little achool of Athena with
only 64 atudenta enrolled will play
Salem high with lta 1400 enrollment
to aee which enters the finals agalnat
the winner of the Uncoln-Aatorla
game.
The gangly Lincoln team was the
only one of the four which had a
"breather" game yesterday. It main
tained possession of the ball most of
the time In defeating West Linn, 84
to 1. Silver scored 13 points for
Lincoln.
Astoria Trims Eugene.
. Coach John Warren's Astoria fish
ermen pulled through In another
close game and won from Eugene, 27
to 34, after having only a one-point
lead with allghtly over a minute to
play. Northern led Eugene In overcom
ing Astoria's early 7 to 1 lead and
- It was only the sensational shooting
of Canneasa that put bla team into
the semi-finals.
Canneasa also proved to be the
Fishermen's most harrasslng' gunrd
and caused further consternation to
Eugene by drawing numerous foul
ahota. Wright of Eugene and Averlll

Salem Rally Wins.
Salem high was caught In mid
game doldrums, but spurted In the
last five minutes to defeat The Dalles,
41 to 37. The Dalles led, 30 to IB,
early In the second half and trailed
only 81 to 37 with three minutes
left to play. Salem waa ahead, 10
to 0 at the end of the first quarter.
Miles, reported to be only 14 years
old and doubtless the smallest player
In the tournament, collected 10 points
for The Dalles, principally on long
ahota. Kelly again waa hub for the
Salem attack, aa ha scored 14 points
and played a prominent part In "feed,
lng" his team mate Wlntermute, who
scored 18 points.
Athena Steals Show.
Athena stole the show by taking the
lead from Tillamook and maintaining

a 81 to 38 victory over the large

close checking by Athena toppled the

Grades If They Go Without Breakfast
GOING without breakfast is a great handicap to school chUdren. Poor
grades in the morning studies are very noticeable. HUN GK x

Don't let the children acquire the no-breakfast habit. Before the school
age feed them as soon as they are up, for that is when the habit is formed.
Sometimes the child must be tempted with an unusual taste appeal
t some especially tasty food a nourishing, harmless sweet.
This is often a difficult problem but you can solve it, as other Medford
mothers have solved it.
Serve breakfast rolls there is a wide variety: Cinnamon twists, cinna
mon snails, butterhorns and many others all as nourishing as any product
of wheat man's best food.
Some add a hot malted drink very nourishing and very appetizing.
There's a great convenience, too. Families seldom sit down to breakfast
together. With rolls just put them in the wanning oven and serve as
