animously pasaed by the board of
directors of the Med ford Chamber
of Commerce today:
Whereas, through the untimely
deatb of Mr. H. E Mareh, tnis com
munity has loet a citizen and friend
whose DaaslnK Is mourned, not only
by his many friends, but by all "Who
knew him; and
Whereas, through his demise, the
Uedford Chamber of Commerce has
lost an ardent supporter; and
Whereas his Innumerable charit
able acts will continue as permanent
memorials In the hearts and minds
of those who felt the touch of his
kindness; now be It
Resolved by the Medford Chamber
of commerce that this organization
express to the surviving widow our
heartfelt sympathy In her great be
reavement; and be It further
Resolved, that roplos of this reso
lution be sent to the pros of Med
ford, to the widow of the deceased,
and spread upon the records of the

Ladles' Missionary society met at
Mrs. Cora Morgan's Tuesday. Eight

dent, and Mrs. H. W. Freme, secretary-treasurer.

gave a party Friday In the music
room of the grade school."-Entertainment
committee was: Chairman, Lu
clle Hurst and Mildred Poling; re
freshments, chairman, Opal Mont
gomery and Helen Olover. Dancing
and games were enjoyed. Miss Na-
school and advisor of the league, and
Miss Mildred Patterson, commercial
Instructor, were present. The room
was decorated with blue and white
paper, the school colors.

planning a banquet for the boys'
basketball squad at the Presbyterian

A meeting has been scheduled for

courthouse auditorium for all rental
property owners, Ivr the purpose of
talking over their rental problems.

their aid and opinions, and It Is
hoped by those In charge that a pro
gram, beneficial to all, may be work
ed out.

TRIED IN AUST
SYDNEY (AP) An all-Australian
4-cyllnder motor car will shortly be
placed on the market.
The cylinders are horizontally op
posed, which. It Is claimed, gives the
motor even torque and centralizes
the weight of the car.
There Is no chassis, the engine and
driving parts being fitted to the body
on special brsckets.
SANTIAGO, Chile (AP) Fearing
future lood shortages and the neces
sity of using some of the Central
Bank's badly needed gold for pur
chases abroad, the government has
ordered provincial officials to make an
Intensive campaign for more wheat.
The administration hopes to have
1,652,840 acres sown In wheat for next
season, a figure far above present
acreage.
The government announces that It
will fix a minimum price, and that
if any farmer Is unable to sell his
wheat, the commissariat of price con
trol will take over his grain at that
figure.
President Arturo Alessandrl's farm
colonization plan also is expected to
aid In the Increase In production of
wheat. He hopes to have both col
lectives and co-operatives function
ing before the next season.
Construction work on the Ashland
unit of the Pacific highway route
changing was under way today. The
steam shovel was Installed and ready
for operation this afternoon. Forty
men were employed, and this num
ber will be Increased, as the work
gets under way. Hall and Washburn,
contractors, except to work four shifts
of six hours each per day, when the
Job gets under full swing. The work
ers are employed under allotment by
the state relief agencies. Married
veterans are given preference, single
veterans second choice, and married
men with families third.
