Woman's Relief Corpa No. 27 met
.Saturday, with 33 ladies present, eight
of whom were guests from the Gold
Hill corps.
Mrs. Hattle I. Calvert, department
delegate at large. Grant Pbm, was
present for a short time, in an effort
to organize a Junior corps of' girls
between the ages of eight and 18
years, '
The first quarter birthday anni
versaries were celebrated with a Jolly
party, with flowers and three large
birthday cakes. Unique place cards
and mottoes at each plw were all in
keeping with the memory of Wash
ington and Lincoln. Two beautiful
baskets of flowers donated by Tlllle
Maple, were given Iva Coplnger and
Olive Blackford. Birthday , honor
guests were Mesdamea Madge Dor
man, Bessie Henderson and Caroline
Drake, all of Gold Hill, and Mes
damea Rose Hermanson, Fred Wylle,
Olive Blackford, Mattle Parker. Etta
Purkeyplle and Mattle Smith of the
local W. R. O. All were happy co
have the Gold Hill ladles present.
Mrs. Barbara Davis of Gold H1U. who
came with the group, is a member of
the local corps.
Eastern Star Has
Splendid Program
CENTRAL POINT Eastern. Star
met Tuesday evening with about 40
members present. Mra Sadie Kohler,
worthy matron, was in charge of the
work. Mrs. Esther Sanderson, chair
man of the refreshment committee,
assisted by Mesdamea Jewett, Kyle
and Paxson. served dainty refresh
ments. '
Mra. Everett Faber presented an
amusing and Interesting entertain
ment, with St. Valentine as the motif.
Honor guests from Med ford were :
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hansen and Mrs.
Leah Hutchinson.
The organization is planning for a
big meeting on March 14, when Mrs.
Monle Hansen, associated grand mat
ron of Salem, will be with them, at
which time visitors from the entire
valley will be present.

Potentate's Ball Tonight
The outstanding event of the Hll
lah temple social season will be held
this evening at the Fairgrounds pa
vilion In Grants Pass, where all Shrln
en will greet Albert K. Cass at the
annual potentate's ball. Mr. Cass,
the illustrious potentate, is a resi
dent' of Grants Paw and Shrlners
from this territory and visiting Shrln
ers and their wives are cordially in
vited to attend the dance.
Elaborate plans nave been made
for the affair, and very good music
has been obtained for dancing.
Med ford will be well represented at
the ball aa many people are planning
to motor to the neighboring city this
evening.
Burleson Honored
At Birthday Party, Phoenix
Mr. and Mrs. Roy Burleson were
happily surprised last Saturday night
when a group of friends and rela
tives honored them with a party on
their birthdays. Present were Mr.
and Mrs. Wesley Coffeen, Mr. and
Mrs. Ed StlllwlU, Mr. and Mrs. Tom
Caster and sons, Mr. and Mrs. Ed
Nelson, Mrs. Jim Calhoun and daugh
ter, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Rush and
children, Lyal Rhodes, Ray Edwards,
Mr. and Mrs. L. O. Caster and daugh
ters. The evening was spent playing
five hundred. Prizes for high score
were won by Mr. and Mrs. L. O Cas
ter, and low by Mrs. Lois Stlllwell
and Tom Caster.

At Luncheon Thursday.
Mrs. Harry Prentice was hostess
yesterday at he second luncheon,
gracing the early spring season. Yel
low daffodlla and Japanese lilies
formed gay centerpieces for tables
at which covers were arranged for 16.
Ferns about the rooms added to the
refreshing spring atmosphere.

Primary Teachers'
Council Meets Tomorrow
The Jackson county primary teach
ers' council will meet tomorrow after
noon at the courthouse at 1:30
o'clock- Miss Oertrude Watsiing of
the Medford schools will talk on
special teaching procedures and Miss
Marie Prescott of the Phoenix schools,
who la arranging the program, asks
that ail primary teachers bring all
nature study material they have
available to the meeting.
Weekly Bible Clai
Announces Outline
The weekly Bible study class met
Tuesday evening In the Women's
Civic club rooms. Approximately 45
were present, and the lesson presented
by Mrs. Z. N. Warner.
The class has completed the study
of Genesis, which coven the first for
dispensations. (A dispensation la a
period of time during which God
deals In a particular way with man
In respect to sin, and to man's re
sponsibility.) Before taking up the study of Ex
odus, which begins the fifth dispen
sation. It was thought best to study
the dispensations t a whole and
the lesson last Tuesday was from a
chart showing the beginning of each
dispensation, particular events of
each and the Judgment passed upon
each because of man's failure to keep
his responsibility to God.
The chronological outline was as
follows:
1. Dispensation of innocence
from the creation of man Genesis
1:2 when man was responsible to
keep his innocence to the expulsion
from Eden Genesis 3:24,
2. Dispensation of Conscience
from the birth of Cain (when man is
responsible to do good and not evil)
to the Flood a period of 1635 years.
, S. Dispensation of human govern
ment from Noah's disembarking
from the ark to the confusion of
tongues at Babel e period of 427
years.
4. Dispensation of promise from
the call of Abram to the Egyptian
bondage a period of 430 years.
B. Dispensation of Law from the
giving of the law at Sinai to the
crucifixion of Christ a period of
1624 years.
o. Dispensation of Grace from
the resurrection of Christ to the
Rapture of the Church the term of
this period Is not known Matthew
24 :86.
7. Dispensation of the Kingdom
during which Christ and his church
will reign over restored Israel and
over the earth for one. thousand years
commonly referred to as the mll
lenlum. Announcement of the meeting place
for the next week will be given In
the Sunday paper. As the atudy of
Exodus will be oegun and this gives
such a thorough knowledge of the
Hebrew people, It la hoped any who
are interested in the atudy of the

Here From Boston
Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Corlles and
sons, Earl and Austin, are guests
here from Boston of Mr. Corllee' pat
ents, Mr. and Mrs. P. M. Carlles. They
arrived by motor from the east Wed
nesday, making the trip by the
southern route In eight days.
Mr. and Mrs. F. M. Corltes are en
tertaining with a family dinner In
their honor this evening at which
Mr. and Mrs. George Codding and
children will also be present.
Mr. Corltes, who formerly lived in
the Rogue River valley, haa been
transferred from' Boston to Seattle,
where he will be located In the coast
guards after March 0. Thia visit is
hla first to Medford in the last eight
years. Mrs. Corlles Is also well known
here and has many friends In' south
ern Oregon.
Auxiliary Party
To Benefit Schools
The local auxiliary to the Medford
post of the American Legion will en
tertain Monday afternoon with a
benefit card party in the womenV
clu brooms In the city hall. Playing
will begin at 2 o'clock and all per
sons who enjoy an afternoon at cards
and who are willing to aid a worthy
relief project are invited to attend.
Lovely prizes have been obtained
for the winners at irds and other
attractive features are promised for
the afternoon. Arrangements will be

be donated the school lunoh rooms,
