ASHLAND, 43T013
TO CLINCH TITLE
Trip to Tourney Practically
Assured by Victory
Scheel High Point Man
Next Game Is March 3
Med ford's Tiger basketball team
swung Into action last night at the
high school floor to swamp the In
vading Ashland team, under Coach
Don Faber, 43-13 In tht first confer
ence game between the two schools
this year. Medford's victory over
Ashland practically assures a trip to
the state tournament In Salem, with
only the winner of the secondary
conference to defeat.
Med ford has defeated Grants Pass
twice and the victory last night
leaves only one defeat In conference
play a possibility, and both Grants
Pass and Ashland have been defeated
twice or more.
Scheel was high point man of the
game last night with 13 points, close
ly followed by Brown with 12. Ash
land's high point man was Kanasto,
forward. Hammock, of Medford, got
6 points, Harris, White and Grove of
Medford four each, and Severson of
Medford one.
"The boys played good basketball
last night.' Coach Darwin K. Burgher
said, "and looked more like a basket
ball team than any time this season.
If they play as well tn the state tour
ney, there should be no doubt that
Medford will take Its place among
the best In the state."
The entire Ashland team was on
the floor, contrary , to reports from
that city that the two. star forwards
were 111. The next game will be
played March 3,

HURT EGG MARKET
BUTTER IS STEP
PORTLAND. Ore.. Feb. 24. (AP)
One of the chief factors against the
market for eggs at the moment ap
pears the distribution by Interests
who have no established place of
bulsness.
Prices were holding practically un
changed for the day.
The movement Into store was gain
ing rapidly.
Market for butter continues to re
flect steadiness but without general
price change either for cubes or
prints. Butterfat values were also
holding up well. Make was holding
with little change.
There was an acute shortage of
live chickens In the local trade. Mar
keting by western Washington has
subsided considerably since the pre
vious low prices were name. Lo
cally there was no change in the
price.
Demand for dressed turkeys con
tinues to exceed curren offerings
here with a resulting strengthening
of the price list. Top quality hens
were still moving up to 15c lb.
Talk in the potato market was
still bullish but actual bulsness was
by no means encouraging. Most of
the trade continues in 2s and with
practically no change on either top
or bottom stuff.
