Word was received by the county
oourt thla morning, that C. W. Reyn
olds, field representative of the Re
construction Finance Corporation for
relief would arrive here Thursday
evening and desired to confer with
the county court Friday morning, on
the local situation.
Reynolds has been v 11 1 trig other
sections of the state, discussing with
county heads their local situations.
The telegram, from Reynolds, reads
as follows:
"Will arrive in Medford Thursday
evening and will arrange conference
to discuss matters relative to a loan
from the Reconstruction Finance
Corporation, for Friday morning at
8:30 o'clock in your office."
Similar steps, according to press
dispatches the past ten days, nave
been taken In other sections of the
northwest.
WASHINGTON, Feb. 2. (AP) Ap
propriation of an additional $150,
000,000 for direct relief loans to
states was recommended to a senate
committee today by Charles A. Miller,
president of the Reconstruction Cor-Deration.
The R. F. O. president endorsed In
general terms the Wagner bill to lib
eralize the law under which his or
ganization administers relief, testify
ing the demand for aid Is Increasing.
He opposed, however, the provision
proposing to throw wide open the
entire resources of the corporation
for relief loans to states, saying it
would handicap efforts to stimulate
local relief work.
Miller testified the present $300,
000,000 fund would last until June
and that an additional 9160,000.000
"would carry us through to the long
session In December."

choice for secretary' of state, went

President-elect Roosevelt, and Profes

After the meeting he departed for
Washington, still maintaining silence
on whether he had formally accepted
an offer to be the next secretary of
state. His non-committal attitude
was interpreted, however, 'as showing
a receptive mood and the gray-haired
senator was put down In the unoffi
cial cabinet list.
Hull, an authority on tariff, spent
the night here with Mr. Roosevelt.
One of the first moves of the new
democratic administration will be
negotiation of war debt nllef asked
by the European powers.
Mr. Roosevelt Is going to Insist on
tariff reciprocity agreements and as
surances of currency stabilization In

He will deal personally with the
European debt representatives. He
will have by his side, however, his
secretary of state. That secretary,
therefore, is expected to be an au

firmly sgainst bottom snd sides.
Reserve remainder for top cruse.
Mix flour, W cup sugar, and sale.
Add to pineapple, cook over hot
watet until mixture is thick. Cool,
turn into crumb-lined pan sod top
with remainder of cruse. Bake in
hoc oven (42 P.) 15 to 25
minutes. 6 portions.
