The M. M. Department store tea-
turtng an unusual window display
showing how fine rayon Is made, is
attracting considerable attention. Che
material was furnished by the Mun
slngwear and DuPont companies.
On one side spruce chips and cot
ton are shown. Fragrant spruce wood
and cotton .inters are mixed and re
fined to a pulp. Then there are two
Jars of pulp. Sheets of pure pulp are
received at the rayon plant, ground
i line crumb and dissolved to liq
uid form for spinning. It comes out
in delicate filaments that are twist
ed together to form a single thread.
in the center of the display there
is a spinneret greatly enlarged. The
actual spinneret Is about the size of
a, small thimble.
The right hand side shows the fin
ished yarn which reaches its loveli
ness only after washing, bleachln.
arying and rigid inspection.
M ay tag Manager
Wins Prizes By
Sales For Area
An optimistic outlook for the fu
ture la held by Ted Chambers, dis
trict manager for the Maytag Wash
ing Machine company with offices In
cms city. And there a a reason.
During December, 1932. Mr. cham
bers' territory ranked first in Mav-
tag sales in competition with other
western statea, winning for the local
supervisor a prize of twenty-five dol
lars. A similar amount was also
awarded to him for the largest

ditions, the Maytag company has
made remarkable progress generally
and plana have been announced for
opening 100 new stores in the west.
