against automobiles being driven with
only one headlight, a total of 37 ar
rests were made In four days on the
Pacific highway, according to a
check made by district headquarters
here.
A state-wide warning was Issued
several weeks ago against driving
with one light, and the announce
ment at that time stated that ar
rests would be made without lur
ther warning.
Pines of 10 have been levied in
the majority of such cases taken Into
court, the records show.

FOR 25 YEARS, PASSES
John Taylor Stallsworth, aged 83
years, a resident of Central Point for
the past 25 years, passed away at
his home In that place early Thurs
day evening, suffering a short illness.
Mr. Stallsworth was marrieo 10
Anna Belle Zimmerman In Harrison
county, Missouri, In 1882. After
making their home there for five
years they moved west. Since 1906
their homo has been in central pomi
and near there.
Mr. Stallsworth is survived by his
widow, Anna Belle Stallsworth, and
eight children, Allen H, John H
Joste Taylor, Eva Painter of Central
Point. Mattle Johnson of Klamath
Palls, Mary Hazelwood of Dorrls, Cal
Ethel Kllngle and Mrs. Walter Smith
of Medford.

Papers were filed In the clerks of
fice yesterday, stating that Harold
P. Myers had been sentenced to the
state penitentiary for a period of not
over 20 months, en a charge of ob
taining money under false pretenses.
The sentence was passed by Circuit
Judge H. D. Norton,
Emalle Mansfield of Ashland, who
pleaded guilty to receiving atolen
property, was sentenced to two years
at the girls' state Industrial school.
She pleaded guilty in circuit court to
receiving articles stolen from the J.
C. Penney store in Ashland several
months ago.

state department of agriculture, who
made a personal Investigation here.

The resignation of Dr. J. J. Em-
mens as ice-president and director
of the Jackson County Building and
Loan association, with which he had
been affiliated for many years, was
reported here yesterday.
Dr. Emmens, when interviewed to
day, said he had severad connections
with the organization because of the
fact that his private practice and
persona! affairs would not permit hie
giving sufficient time to the Build
ing and Loan association.
He added that he believed "the or
ganization is perfectly sound finan
cially and expressed perfect confi
dence in the management and future
of the organization.

4 cups milk.

1 teaspoon salt.

114 cups oysters, chopped.

Melt butter and add flour. When
blended add milk emd cook In double
boiler until sauce thickens little. SBlr
