their son Delnert who for the post six
months has been a patient in the
Sacred Heart hospital In Medford, the
result of a broken leg caused by an
auto accident, returned home from
Portland New Year's. He had his leg
twice rebroken and reset, and was
taken to Portland last week for fur-
ther surslcal treatment. The sxireeons
in Portlnnd found two splinters of
bone which were causing the trouble,
according to reports.

a Japanese combined land, sea and
air attack completely routing Chinese
forces.
The Chinese were reported to have
retreated in the direction of Lwan
chow, leaving many dead on the bat
tie field. (Lwanchow Is about 50 miles
southwest of Shanhalkwan on the
railroad route through Chlnwnngtao )
The communique reported Japanese
losses ns one lieutenant and one ser
geant killed and many seriously
wounded. Japanese were reportd
