bution of approximately 16,500 to
turkey growers who participated In
the Thanksgiving pool is being made
from the Roseburg office of the Ore
gon Turkey Growers. The payment
Is the first on account in addition '0
the advance tendered at time of de
livery. It is expected that another
payment to growers will result from
this pool when final settlement oc
curs. Growers were given an." ad
vance on a basis ol 10 cents p:r
pound for prime young toms and
hens at the itme of delivery, and the
additional payment brings the total
to 17 cents.
The association expects to organize
another pool shortly aft:r the first
of January, it waa announced today.

patch to - the Journal today from
Washington,- D. C. said that "in
hearings before the commute.' on
appropriations. Dr. Elwood Mend, rec
lamation commissioner, forcibly urg
ed that although revised budget esti
mates for the Owyhee project brought
the amount for tho next fiscal year
down to $1,600,000, congress should
appropriate (1,800,000 as a minimum."

the Dairymen's association at the
county court course, attended by a
small representation of followers of
the industry In this section.
