Automobile Found The automo
bile belonging to R. A. Ross, which
was stolen from in front of his resi
dence Tuesday evening, was located
yesterday afternoon by city police, on
Cedar street. The gasoline was gone
from the car but the machine was
not damaged, they reported.

night, and left today for Sardine
creek, where he la working on min

VALLEY PIONEER,
AT BEAGLE
August Edler, 81, pioneer resident of
this county, passed away at the home
of this sons at Beagle where he had
gone for a short visit, at 9:16 p. m.
Wednesday. Pneumonia was the cause
of his death.
Mr. Edler was born tn Germany and
came to this country at the age of
12 years. He came west tn the year
1884. From San Francisco he went
by boat to Portland and came to this
country by rail, which only ran as
far as Ashland, and landed where
Medford now stands at 4:00 o'clock
in the morning on July 4th. 1884.
He Immediately took up his residence
In the Lake Creek district where he
has resided continuously since that
time.
Mr. Edler was the father of 11 chil
dren, nine living. They are August
and Charles Edler and Mrs. Flora Frey
of Lake Creek; Chris of Trail; Wil
liam C, Frederick and Andrew Edler
and Mrs. R. R. Blschoff of Beagle and
Mrs. Louisa Belt of Medford. Also
18 grandchildren and four great
grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements will be an
nounced by Conger Funeral Parlors
when completed.
FINAL PUPPET SHOW
JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL
This evening at 7:30 o'clock, the
Medford public will be given one
more opportunity to see the Holly
wood Marionettes at the Junior High
school. "Cinderella" was presented
by the puppet troupe there this after
noon to a packed house and 'The Lost
Adam Dlggln's" will be presented this
evening for the pleasure of adults.
Each adult ticket sold will pay for
hot soup for one child for one week
in the Medford schools through the
program of the Parent-Teacher asso
ciation. The puppet show Is being
presented under auspices of the asso
ciation and since It is a benefit affair,
which will make many Medford school
children healthier and happier, a
large attendance is anticipated and
urged tonight.
Much praise of the marionettes,
which have a universal appeal, has
preceded arrival of the troupe in Med
ford and the public Is promised an
evening of rare fun and a new slant
on many favorite stars of Hollywood,

A full page advertisement In "Au
tomobile Topics," national magazine,
brings publicity to Medford, a, Med
ford business and a Medford photog
rapher. It tells of the experiences of
Walter Abbey, operator of the Nash
agency here. And- with the advertise
ment photographs of the agency and
of the agent, Walter Abbey, also ap
pear. The pictures were taken by J.
Verne Shangle and sent Into Nash
headquarters by Mr. Abbey, with a
short resume of his experiences and
reasons for taking over the Nash
agency here. The company obviously
liked the pictures and the reasons,
so offered them to the public In a
full page ad.
The program and luncheon given
by Everyman's Bible class In the
recreation room of the Christian
church last night was well attended
and highly enjoyed.
The program consisted of piano
selections by Fred A. Halght, the
class pianist, popular songs by the
class, solos by Ralph Waldron, sev
eral readings by W. R. Balrd, teach
er of the class, violin selections by
Wood row Murphy and short talks.
The luncheon was served by the
social committee of the class.
A short business session was con
ducted by R. L. Ray, vice president
of the class. The class was divided
Into two sections, the reds and
blues, who will conduct a contest
for new members until Easter Sun
day, the division losing to do all
the work In serving a banquet that
win be furnished by the class. The
aim for attendance of the class la
150 for the first Sunday In Janu
ary and 500 for Easter Sunday.
The event Wednesday evening Is
one of the many to be given by
Everyman's Bible class which meets
every Sunday at 0:80 at the audi
torium of the new court house and
to which all men are Invited.

stock market wobbled listlessly today,
but enough short covering appeared
late to boost a few shares a point or
two. As a whole, however, the list
was irregular at the finish. Sales

AT ROTARY MEET
The Medford Rotary club heard an
interesting talk on "Real Estate"
Tuesday noon by Chaa. Wing, well
known realtor of this city. Mr. Wing
gave many facta and figures on this
subject many of which were a revela
tion to his hearers. Over 156 billion
dollars Is invested In real estate to
day and only 26 percent of privately
owned property Is enctimbered, ac
cording to the speaker. The fact that
the amount of privately owned real
estate In 1930 showed a substantial
Increase over the 1920 figure proved
of Interest to all present. Mr. Wing
classified his talk Into three parts
covering urban property, suburban
property and farms, giving some per
tinent Information on each type of
real estate. A general discussion upon
the subject will be held at next
week s Rotary meeting and will be in
charge of Mr. Wing.
Robert Carey, past president of the
Marlon county chamber of commerce
made a short talk on the accomplish
ments of his organisation Including
the work of securing the Golden Gate
bridge which Is one of the greatest
construction projects in history. He
strongly advocated the establishment
of a county chamber for Jackson
county to promote the best Interests
of the southern Oregon territory.
Henry Manny of Seattle, past dis
trict governor of Rotary announced
the forming of a new Rotary club at
Merrill, Oregon for Thursday night,
Dec. 8, and urged a good representa
tion from Medford.
Tarney Steward asked all Rotarlans
to bring bundles of old clothes to
next week's meeting for local relief
work. Jack Wakefield, who was wel
comed back to the club after several
weeks' Illness also spoke on the sub
ject of local relief.
Visitors at the session were H. H.
Manny of Seattle, Wash., and Robert
Carey of San Rafael, California.
BAD LUCK AGAIN
THREATENS EYE
IN COOK FAMILY
A blacx cat must have crossed the
path of the A. E. Cook family of
Gold Hill some time or other, and
continued on his way unseen, leav
ing bad luck behind, according to
Mrs. Cook, who was in Medford this
morning with her little daughter
June, who lost the sight of her
right eye a few weeks ago, when it
was accidentally struck with a
butcher knife. For this week Mr,
Cook's right eye was also Injured,
He was chopping wood, Mrs. Cook
stated, when a stick suddenly flew
up and hit him In the right eye.
The doctor was called and found
that although the eye was badly
injured the sight was not Impaired.
The little girl, who la still receiv
ing treatment for her right eye in
hope of keeping It In Its socket,
awakened this morning with an ab
scess on her left eye. Following ex
amination by a local physician this
morning the defect was announced
as not serious.

Sacred Heart hospital several weeks,
returned home Saturday. He la able
to be up and around.
Mrs. Grant was leader of the
Friendly Neighbors Sunday afternoon.
The regular lesson wm studied. Flans
for Christmas entertainment and
treats for the children were dlsucased.
It was decided that mostly home mads
treats woul'l be best, such as candy
and popcorn balls.
Charles Mulhollen expects to leave
Tuesday for Portland to re-enter the
Veterans' hospital for several months
treatment.

were Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Nelson and
son, Charlea of Medford and Mr. and
Mrs. Charles Mulhollen and family
of this place.
School children are preparing a
Christmas program, under the direc
tion of their teacher. Miss Boussom.
Christmas seals are also being sold

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Sanderson
and daughter, Thelma. went to Ash
land last Tuesday to attend the fu
neral of Mrs. Sanderson's cousin, Mrs.
Morehouae.
The Friendly Neighbors will have
a community dinner Sunday at the
school house and Rev. Millard of Med
ford will preach at two o'clock. Every
one la Invited.
Otto Prey of Lake Creek Is stay
ing at the Edler home this week, help
ing care for the Edler family. All
are bedfast with the flu.
