Stanford football coach, announced
today ho had submitted hit resigna
tion to Dr. Thomas A. Storey, director
of athlatlca.
At tha aama time the veteran coach
announced ha had received a con
tract from Temple unlveralty, Phila
delphia, and would be there to take
charge of practice neit spring.
Warner disclosed he had received
a almtlar offer from Temple last year
but had elected to remain at Stan
ford. When the offer came I'p again
thli year, he added, he decided to ac
cept It in view of the "dlaaatlafactlon"
here and because of he opportunity
offered at the eastern school.

portunity at Temple much the same
aa those which took him to Carlyle
aa football coach In 1007 and Pitts
burg university In 1011.

waa authoritatively stated at Temple
university today that Olenn (Pop)
Warner, Stanford university football
coach, has been offered the head
coaching position at tha Philadelphia
Institution, but that no reply naa
been received from him as to whether
he would accept.

would succeed Henry J. (Heinle) Mil
ler, former University of Pennsylvania
star, who haa been head coach since
1034.

In county road rellf work under
way today In all section of the
county, 160 men were employed, the
largest number of the aeaaon. In
order that the men may receive war
. ranta for their work on Saturday, aa

The county relief fund ! expected
to provide employment, until the atate
highway commlaalon awarda contracts
a week from tomorrow for federal pro
jects In the atate, which Include the
Central Point cut-off and Pacific
Highway re -routing over the SUklyoua.
This work ! expected to furnish work
for a considerable number of Jackson
county residents, and to remove some
of the tension from local relief
agencies.
Work on the two southern Oregon
projects will start as soon possible
after the contracts are awarded. The
work will lest well Into next spring,
according to present estimates.
To round ' out Friday's fight card
which will boast Leo Lomskl, the
Aberdeen .Assassin and Denny Len
hart In the top spot, Promoter Mack
Llllard has signed Battling Owens of
Prospect, protege of Dewey Hill, to
meet Terry KUeen, popular Medford
fighter, and will bring Ad Cadena, Los
Angeles glove artist, to face Herb
White, the Butte Falls youngster, who
haa burned up the valley fans with
his meteoric rise.
Owens, who gained his fistic edu
cation In the United Stataa martnes,
has 34 fights on his record, la of
which were marked by victory for the
ex-leatherneck.
KUeen has appeared on several local
cards and brought favorable comment
with his gamenesa and ability to
punch.
Cadena Is rated one of the prettiest
boxers on the coast and recently de

on Cadena, young Herb White will
