ball carrier, few teams have been able
to get undrr way against the Bur-
ghermen,
Ashland, with a season's record
blemished by defeats, will come to
Van Bcoyoo field Saturday filled to
overflowing with the traditional "do
or die" spirit w.hlch characterises
contest between Medford and the
sister city's representatives.
The Llthlan lads, many times play
Ing the "under dog" role, have shown
flashes In previous fames which
swept the locals near defeat and add
ed zest for the partisan fans.
The game will mean much to Ash

gridiron performers, but the pivotal
line and backfleld positions have the
experts scrambling around at a great

other candidates for fullback, but
hla oondltlon and consistency have
been subject to some question.
Ernest Koy of Texas Is being ranked
as the greatest fullbsck of all time
In the southwest conference.

fensive back In the country than the
Cornell captain, Bart Vlvlano. Coaches
and players have told mo they never
saw a harder tackier anywhere than
this New Jersey boy. who captained

They averaged only about 16 points

seven-year previous average, accord
ing to Ralph Huston, or 34.8 points
per game.

Angeles to meet the Bruins of the
University of California at Los An
geles wars shattered by the weather
man today. Fair weather was fore
cast for tomorrow's gridiron struggle
at the Memorial coliseum.
Accustomed to playing on wet
fields ij the northwest, the Huskies,
arriving this morning from Seattle,
were reported to have been hopeful
It would rain before the contest so
thst the going would be according
to their liking.
The Bruins, anxious to finish In
second place In conference standings,
were to end practice at the West
wood campus thts afternoon. They
are In top shape for tho contest and
Coach Bill Bpauldlng claimed the
psychological advantage. The Uclans
are determined to end their season
with a victory after two successive
defeats, one by St. Mary's and the
other by Washington State.
