Cruz., Cal., hospital, where he was
under surveillance, when he learned

H. 8. Cleveland, well known Med
ford sign painter who has maintained
an establishment In this city lor sev
eral years, has announced the organi
sation of the Medford neon sign
company which will manufacture and
sell neon algns In southern Oregon.
The new company will maintain Its
plsnt and offices at 431 East Main
street In the basement of the cniiders
building.
The new company, a Medford own
ed and operated firm, will manufac
ture complete signs In their thor
oughly equipped plant. Mr. Clove-
land will personally design and
supervise the construction of neon
signs produced by this company and
O. E. Smith will be sole representative
of the concern, according to the
announcement today. Already a
number of artlstlo signs are under
construction by the newly formed
Medford Neon Sign company.
One of the outstanding sign Joba
completed during the past year by
H. B. Cleveland, head of the new
company, was a aeries ol. artistic road
sljrns which were personally executed
by Mr. Cleveland under the sponsor
ship of the Medford Rotary club.

paroled to hla father, Don Hanscom,
by Judge O. B. Limit In this morning.
Hanscom admitted taking four bi
cycles, officers said.
Two of the bicycles, one belonging
to Billy Strang and the other to Rob
ert Lee, Jr.. were taken yesterday
afternoon. Young Lee's wheel was
taken from the Washington school,
where Hanscom Is s pupil, to the
Roosevelt school, Where he sold he
took Billy Strang's bicycle.
He told officers that he had taken
bicycles on two previous occasion.
The Hanscoms reside about eight
miles from Medford. and the youth
cornea to school by bus.

song will contribute a piano solo,
and Naomi Jenkins a reading. A. W.
Bat'low of Grants Paw, baritone, has
been invited to sing two solos. He
Is a newcomer to Rogue River valley
and will bs heard with pleasure. He
has charge of the church choir.

will be guest of honor and Inspira
tional speaker,

American Creamery Butter Manufac
turers' association. The trade claims
that there is not the slightest excuse
for the government to purchase New
Zealand butter Instead of the Amer
ican product and pressure will be
brought to bar to have the system
changed.
The fact that New Zealand and
mid -went butter are being offered to
tne pacific slope trade at prices 4 to
5o lb. below the established values
here, Indicate that the previous ad
vance along the const was somewhat
out of line with actual supply and
demand.
If this foreign butter cornea to the

call for the home product.

Thirty-two of the 101 school dis
tricts of Jackson county have filed
notice with the county clerk of elec
tlons for the passing of special school
levies for 1933. The special levy
elections, under the law, must be
held before December 1, but exten
slons of time are permissible.
Amounts sought In the special
levies range from 69M In the Wag
ner Creek district, to 810,03a sought
In Jacksonville district. The Howard
district, located on the north Pacific
highway, between this city snd Cen
tral Point, Is next to the highest,
with a special levy of $7,381$.
The Evans Valley district. In the
north end of the county, sponsors a
special levy of s5.691.4e- one of the
largest In the records of the district.

Tollefson admitted the hoax to
cover gambling losses. The money
appropriated , was afterwards recov
ered, and the bank lost nothing.
Tollefson entered a plea of guilty.
Before sontence was passed by Clr
rcult Judge H. D. Norton, petitions
signed by a majority of the depositors
In the bank, were presented asking
leniency, since then Tollefson haa
been at liberty on bonds.
The defense holds that Tollefson
was not accorded his full constitu
tional rights, and that the legality
of his sentence Is in question.
It Is understood that In the event
of a reversal In the state supreme
court, the case will be carried to the
United States supreme court.
