Phoenix School
Presents Circus
Like Real Thing
PHOENIX, Nov. 31. (Spl) A
cleverly planned circus was presented
at the high school gym Friday night,
to a large attendance. The program
began with a "grand parade" by all
participants. After this, various
stunt were performed. An Inter
mission was given to allow all to
attend the varloua sideshows, which
were found both Interesting and
humorous. Upon assembling the
crowd to their seat again, members
of the girls' glee club, dressed a
cowboys and cowgirls, gave a few se
lections, and a shadow play was pre
sented by members of both the high
school and the grade school.
Those presenting the sideshows
were: Addle Bols, the fat lady; Ver
non Young, "Chandu the Magician";
Eugene Shearer, the wild man! Rob
ert Parrlck, the snake charmer, and
George Stevens, the sword wellower.
Among the most Interesting at
traction of the evening were the
boxing matche with Donald Poling
vs. Donald Anderson and Rom Hum
phries vs. Roy Miller. Fletcher Fish
was referee.
A real circus spirit was given by
the booth. The Thursday club had
charge of a booth at which could be
secured hot dogs, cider and coffee,
and the Junior class ot the high
school had charge of the candy booth
at which could be procured dellclou
home-made candy.
