Hope for Dry Field.
Coach Burgher and local fans are
praying for a dry field and a dry

melsters a chance to spring their
flashy forward pass attack. The
team Is taking the contest with more
seriousness than usual, and there Is
not a trace ' of over-conf Idenee, so
manifest In the Grants Pass game.
'The teams are even as to weight
In the line, according to the paper

Tjhe Jefferson attack 'centers around

Hood Blver Loses.
.Lebanon defeated the highly tout
ed Hood River team, 18 to 6, Sat
urday night at Portland, and the
victory will silence any lamentations
from the mid-Columbia section that
-Medford and Portland conspired to
rob them of the state title, and both
were afraid to play them. The Leba
non team outplayed Hood River, The
Dalles unmercifully trounced La
Cfrande, another state title claimant.
Lebanon, Cbemawa and Tillamook

with any right to file claims. Hood

TWELVE YEARS AGO
Twelve years ago it rained- not the kind of rain com
monly expected in Oregon but a rain of lower living
costs a veritable shower of low prices that brought about
a new era of food costs in Southern Oregon.
Twelve years ago we opened the pioneer self-service
store in Oregon, a radical departure f roni the old fash
ioned cash food store. First, of course was the new self
service, but a greater and more important departure
was the featuring of none but high quality foods.
The best for less High quality at cash and carry

custom of selling distressed stocks and strange brands that ,
