pital today, he told police that In
the midst of a cordial conversation
In his home the two leaped upon
him, beat, bound and gagged him,
and escaped with 63.000 worth of
bonds, 67.75 In cash, an overcoat and
shoes. They gained admittance to
hla home, he said, by representing
themselves as friends of a mutual
friend. The police Investigation In

drinking of liquor.

STATION KEEPS BUSY
Radio station KOE, TTnlted Air
Lines' short wave aircraft transmit
ting and receiving unit at Medford,
wan reported today to be on of the
busiest airway radio telephone sta
tions on the nation's network of air
routes. An average of 180 calls are
made every 34 hours by KOE, con
acting pilots of planes flying on the
Seattle-Medford-San Diego mall and
pa&senger express airway of United
Air Lines.
In addition to providing pilots In
flight with latest weather Informa
tion and traffic dispatches, the radio
phone station can communicate with
several of United Air Lines' 37 trans
mitting and receiving stations every
200 miles along the company's nation-wide
system of air lines.
All of Unlted's fleet of more than
100 airplanes are completely equip
ped with radio transmitter and re
ceivers to make possible) voice com
munication between pilots and the
ground station operators.
