berate the character and standard
of the teachers who have graduated
from the Oregon normal schools, or
of the present students In Southern
Oregon Normal, or any attempt to
underestimate the high quality of
our student body.
"That we opppose the passage of
this bill In that we oonsider It nec
essary to the continuation of the
development of the rural schools In
southern Oregon to keep Southern
Oregon Normal and also In that we
consider the Junior college Idea fal

onment of the present state school

rot family, to prevent any possible

A bulletin Issued by the state
.health board says:
"The present outbreak of psitta
cosis has come dramatically to pub
lic attention through the fact that
Mrs. Borah, wife of Senator William
E. Borah of Idaho, Is seriously 111
with the disease. A number of cases
have occurred In this state."
The state board regulations also
prohibits the Importation of par
rakeets Into this state, a rule now
In effect In California.
It Is estimated there are close to
500 birds of the parrot family now in
the county. Many f am lies have
parrots as pets.
The regulations also cover those
who raise canaries, and other birds
commercially, unless a -lean bill of
health has been Issued by the coun
ty health officer.

After battling unprecedented diffi
culties crews of the S. B. Magoffin
company sunder "holed through" the
No. S tunnel of the Owyhee project.
An example of the difficulties encoun
tered was the three-month task ot
negotiating a distance ot 1ft feet.
This company had the outlet end
of the bore which has a total length
of 4!4 miles. When the crews Sun
day removed the laat nine' feet ot
earth and rock, It was found that the
bore they had dug was In perfect
alignment with the inlet end com
pleted several montha ago.
