CHECK JOBLESS
THRUST AT KING
LONDON, Oct. 31. (AP) London'
bobbiea iurveyed their third victory
within a month over rioting Jobless
today after repulsing an attack by
thousand on Buckingham palace
and Westminster.
But the disorder!, which began yes
terday in Trafalgar Square, brought
onlv a. Anr.&n minor casualties, aa
compared to the 70 hurt In Hyde j
Park last week and the 30 Injured In
the Lambeth section October 31.
The weary police expected only a
34-hour breathing spell, however, for
Tuesday the Jobless plan a march on
forbidden Parliament Square to pre- I
sent a petition of protest against the !
Means test in the dole system.
The bobbles are prepared for more '
serious trouble with a relief system j
employed In the general strike
of 1926. The plan was used yester
day for the first time since the na
tional "hunger army" marched Into
London last week.
The system employs London's
12,000 special constables for routine
police work as needed, freeing hun
dreds of police for use In riot squads.
More than 3000 of these special pa
trolmen, who are volunteers serving
without pay, were called to traffic
duty yesterday.
