Wells Leaves Deputy United States
Marshal Cal C. Wells left this morn
ing for Klamath Falls with some
subpoena for federal grand Jury,
which opens in Portland Monday.
Deputy Wells returned to Medford
Thursday evening from Portland,
where he accompanied Chief Deputy
William Graham, with nine federal
prisoners, four of whom were bpund
over to the grand Jury,
Plant Ii Entered State police and
the sheriff's office today were Inves
tigating the robbery of last night at
the Associated Oil company's plant,
where a drum and about 60 or to
gallons of gasoline were taken. Ac
cording to Captain Lee M. Bown, the
door 'was found open this morning
and evidence of two men waa found.
The captain stated that a car had
apparently been driven to the rear
of the warehouse, and the gasoline
loaded.
Get Alcohol State police last night
arrested James B. Williams of Oak-
dale, Cal., on charges of transporting
30 gallons of alcohol in his. Ford
coupe. Williams was scheduled to
appear In justice court In Grants Pass
this afternoon, according to state po
lice, who made the arrest. Officers
said William had a loaded .38 re
volver with him, and would probably
be cited on that charge also.

Arrested a mile this aide of the
Klamath Junction, about 1:30 this
morning, following a collision. Earl
A. Brown. 37, driver of one of the
cars, and his companion. Carmen L.
Evans, are expected to be taken into
court today in Ashland. According
to state police, who arrested the men,
Brown will be charged with driving
while Intoxicated, and Evans will
have charges filed as being drunk on
a public highway.
The automobile collided with the
machine driven by Mrs. Mary Keadle
of Hilt, in whoso car were some chil
dren. No one was injured, police
stated.

farmers by the governor's relief com
mittee to obtain stock for the cen

county courthouse.

of the Sardine Creek vicinity for the
past 11 years, was found dead In his
rsbin last night, apparently the re
sult of .heart trouble, according to
Deputy Coroner Joy Walker. It waa
thought the man had been dead
sinre Tuesday.
Mr. Walker said today that neigh
bors called on Mr. McFarlaine both
Tuesday nnd Wednesday eveninga.
and, unable to get a response to their
knocks, thought he had gone to
town.
