Talent Group Organizes
For United Efforts in
Conserving Food Supply
It's purely a self-help proposition
the program underway In the Tal
ent district, where 18 families nave
b&ude4 together to aid tlioao with
out work in their effort to till their

all members. On the ftrm belief that
the only worthwhile aid Is directed
toward enabling Individuals to help
themselves, the Talent people have
bullded the foundation for their pro
Jeot, whloh promises to alleviate pres
ent conditions and to Insure some
thing in the cupboard for winter,
1032-33.
The Home Relief club la headed by
K. I. Baylor, and Christine Oulllfard
Is the manager of the kitchen. The
organisation haa been In operation
for one month and the members are
busy, preserving foods, sewing quilts
and clothes; for closets, aa well as
cupboard must have something tn
them when winter cornea.
Each member Is contributing i
recipe, which la economical and trust-
worthy, to enable the unemployed to
prepare foods at less cost. Recipe
from other organizations are also de-
slrod to aid this feature of the pro
gram.
Some of the recipes, so far con
tributed, which are released to aid
others, anxious to economise on the
preparation of foods, follow with the
names of the contributors:
Tomato Catsup.
For 10-gallon wooden keg or crock,
take nice ripe tomatoes, wash and
cut them In small pieces, let' stand
five days, stirring frequently. Put
all through colander. Cook tn deep
veasel, add:
3 cups sugar
4 tablespoons salt
H teaspoon cinnamon
H teaspoon nutmeg
V4 teaspoon tumeric
Whole spice can be used tied In
cloth. Bottle while hot. This makes
about 20 pints.

Use cooking vessel. Add two-Inch
layer of green tomatoes, thinly sliced
and level teaspoon of salt. Then
Inch sliced onion. Repeat alternately
until vowel is filled. Set over-night
with weight. In morning drain, add
sweet pickle vinegar and whole spices.

has been well buttered. Wash one
third cupful of lies and eprlnklo
over the potatoes. Cover the rloe
with 1 lbs of ground meat or cured
ham. Add ft thick layer of siloed
onions, then ft layer of chopped car
rots. Pour over 1 quart of canned
tomatoea, to which 1 tables poonlul
of salt and 1 teas poo nful of sugar
haa been added. Sprinkle with pep
per, cover lightly and place In a mode
rate oven of 350 degrees for 34 hours.
