Point Church Has
Picnic on Rogue
There wer thirty two cImb mem
bers and guests present at the wiener
roost, held on Rogue river near Gold
Hill Friday evening for Mrs. J. San
Xord Richardson's class of the Central
Point Christian church Sunday
school.
The picnic opened with devotlonals.
led by Reverend Millard and followed
by community song service. Other
members on the program were read
ings by Reverend Millard and a group
of solos by Ed Vincent, well known
bass soloist.
The remainder of the evening was
devoted to games and roasting of
wieners.

Game In Eugene
Among Medfbrd folk leaving at an
early hour yesterday morning for the
football game at the University of
Oregon were Misses Irma Smith and
Helen Davis and Messrs. Ed and Geo.

Mrs. Click Honored
Before Departure
A handkerchief shower and sur
prise party was given Mrs. O. W.
Click of Beal Lane Thursday after
noon, about 19 ladles being present
The affair was given as a farewell
party for Mrs. Click, who leaves for
Pasadena, Calif., Friday, to make her
permanent home. Her many friends
and neighbors Joined in wishing her
a happy Journey. Cards were enjoyed

Interesting guests in the valley
this week are Mrs. Katherlne Hef
fernan and Miss Kitty Johanson, who
recently arrived from Seattle to visit
friends.
Miss McFadden and
Mother, Guests Here
Miss Jeanette McFadden and
mother Mrs. L. O. Penland of Tal
ent, were dinner guests of Mr. and
Mrs. Walter Rowley Thursday. Miss
McFadden Is a student at the Stan
ford School of Nruslng at San Fran
cisco and Is at home for a four
weeks' vacation.

Girl Scouting Is sgaln In swing
with several troops being organized
recently, or perhaps It would be bet
ter to say that they are re -organized
for their 1932 and 1933 activi
ties. Fojlowlng are several schedules as
planned for the coming week:
Roosevelt Troop, under the leader
ship of Miss Vera Humphreys and
Led a O'Neal will meet Monday night
at 6 :30 at the playground recrea
tion hall. All girls of ten years of
age or over may come and Join.
Junior High Troop No. 4 for sev
enth and eighth grade girls, meets
Monday night at 7:30 In the Girl
Scout office, Medford National Bank
building. Miss Margaret Kerr la
captain, and Miss Lucy Lav Is is her
capable assistant.
Junior High Troop No, 2 for girls
of tho ninth grade will meet this
Tuesday night at 7:30 in the Girl'
Scout office. Miss Grace Voss and
Miss Joyce Gage are the leaders of
this troop. I will be there also for
this first meeting of the girls.
Washington troop will meet some
time this week under the leadership
of Mrs. eLonard Carpenter and Kath
erlne Stearns. Will you phone Kath
erlne Stearns for the meeting day?

Miss. Leverette
To St. Louis
Miss Doreen Leverette, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Walter Leverette. left
Wednesday morning for St. Louis.
Mo., where she will enter Principle
college for her second year. She ac
companied her father to Roseburg
by motor, and made the remainder
of the Journey by train, arriving
there Saturday evening.
An invitation has been received
by the Medford unit to the Joint
Installation of the officer elect of
the Asrland unit Monday evening,
October 3. Anyone who la planning
on going and does not have trans
portation may telephone Mrs. Good
win Humphrey, 836-w. The meet
ing begins at 6 o'clock and la fol
lowed by dancing.

be held In the Knights of Pythias

Pocahontas Card
Party Enjoyed
The regular card party of the Poc
ahontas lodge was held Friday, Sep
tember 30. Bridge and pinochle were
played. High scores In bridge were
held by Nilpha Armstrong and
Frank Rush, low by Alena Ersklne
and George Armstrong. Pinochle
high scores were held by BUI Milnes
and Maggie Ersklne and low by Ethei
Blackburn and Jack Ersklne.
The membera having blrthdaya
during the month of September
were honored with a birthday cake
and special favors.
The committee In charge was Ber-
nice Sears and Bee Blackburn. A
spelling bee will be held Lhls com
ing Friday.
New Officers Of
Auxiliary Named
Officers have oeen elected to head
the local Ledles Auxiliary to the
American Legion and a successful
year is anticipated with Mrs. K. D.
Ross as president.
Other officers for the coming year
are: Mrs. Walter Olmscheld, vice
president: Mrs. Ray Watson, second
vice-president; Mrs. W. W. Cleaves,
secretary-treasurer: Margaret Kerr,
corresponding secretary, and on the
executive board, Mrs. Cole Holmes.

The Ladles Bible Class of the Pres
byterian church met last week In the
church parlor for t,he regular month
ly social.
The room was beautifully decor
ated with autumn flowers.
In the absence of the president,
Mrs. McCullum, Mrs. Mary Phlppa
had charge of the meeting.
The Devotlonals were given by Mrs.
Hanby, who used as her subject,
"Thoughts."
An unusually Interesting paper on
the Dispensations was read by Mrs.
Chapman. Light refreshments were
served by the following ladles: Mrs.
Warner, Mrs. Kroschel, Mrs. Payne,
Mrs. Oliver, Mrs. Llttrell, Mrs. Saw
yer and Mrs. Clements.
