To Show Pictures A special pro
gram of Copco motion picture will
be presented at the Rogue River
academy tomorrow night, through
the courtesy of the California Oregon
power company. Recent "Copco cur
rent events." Including the court
house dedication, the Jacksonville
gold rush Jubilee, the Olympic gamea,
Santa Barbara fiesta and other in
teresting films, will be shown during
the evening. There also will be some
short comedy reels for the children.

Baffling Mystery

of this man are the plot of the

Added features at the Holly today
and tomorrow will Include a Mickey
Mouse cartoon, the first real Mickey
Mouse to have been shown in Med
ford for some months. Other fea-
tureattea are a comedy and a sports
reel.
Saturday night will present anoth
er of the popular revival shows, this
time presenting the famous story.
"Son of the Gods," which features
Richard Barthelmess and Constance
Bennett. All attending the Saturday
night show will be Invited to remain
as guests of the Holly for the re
vival showing of this picture.
Robinson Coming
To Fox Craterian
Two famous screen names are at
the head of the cast of "Tiger
Shark," the First National exciting
picture of the colorful tuna Indus
try, which comes to the Fox Crate
rian Sunday.
Edward O. Robinson, star of the
picture, and Richard Arlen, long a
screen favorite, play together for the
first time In this stirring and sensa
tional epic of the seas, a story of
life among the fishermen who take
their Uvea Into their hands practically
every time they go to sea.
In this picture Arlen sings for the
first time rollicking songs of the sea.
He plays "Pipes," a mate on Robin
son's fishing boat, and gets his nick
name from his vocal accomplish
ments. Many of the spectacular sea shots
are made off the west coast of Mex
ico, where man-eating sharks are
found in great schools. These scenes
are said to be thrilling In the ex
treme. "Congorllla," Martin Johson'a fa
mous picture, Is the Attraction at
the Craterian tonight and Saturday.

Sentencing of three members of the
so-called "Ashland Gang" who last
July burglarized the J. C. Penney
store there, Is awaiting the wishes
of Circuit Judge H. D. Norton, busy
with trial procedure. It will probobly
be at the conclusion of the present
Jury case before the court.
Two members of the alleged gang
Lester (Buck) Wilson, and Luther
Crosby, are on parole from the atate
prison ot 8alem. They were given
their liberty last May. Emalte (Bobby)
Mansfield. 22, who. it la said, haa been
the beneficiary of half a dozen pa
roles, Is held as member of the gang.
Virgil (Dodo) Burnett, IB. Is held sa
a member. Two Asnland glrla are
also Involved In the crime In minor
capacities. All but Wilson, the dis
trict attorney's office says, have made
confessions, and are willing to enter
guilty pleas.
The Mansfield woman, aocordlng to
the district attorney's office, was a
"bad Infuence" among Ashland glrla.
Tne mother of Luther Croaby haa
Interviewed the district attorney rela
tive to leniency for her son. She
asks that his present parole be re
voked, snd that he not be aentenced
on the new charge. Under prison
rules, Crosby must serve the balance
of hla first term, as a parole violator,
and then any sentence that may be
Imposed upon him for the present
charge.
Wilson, who with Croaby was sen
tenced to atate prison for the robbery
of Miller's Toggery In Ashland, claims
that he Is a victim of clrcumstancea
and waa not Involved In the Penney
robbery. Authorities claim that when
arrested he waa wearing clothes stolen
from the J. C. Penney atbre.

Local radio audiences will be inter
ested to know that a. series ot forty
patriotic lectures will be presented
this winter by Medford Post No. 15,
American Legion and the American
Legion Auxiliary; Crater Lake chapter
Daughters of the American Revolu
tion; the Boy and Olrl Scouts and
the Daughters of Union Veterans of
the Civil War, through the courtesy
of KMED radio station.
These 15 minute lectures are en
dorsed by the American Coalition of
Patriotic Societies, a national organi
zation and are written by men who
are qualified by experience to speak
with authority. Their purpose la to
combat the Influence of communism
and to familiarize the American peo
ple with authentic facts relative to
governmental affairs. The movement
is nation-wide and Is being promoted
with the Invaluable cooperation and
help of radio stations in many cities.
The lectures. In Medford. will be
broadcast weekly and the first one
will be read by Wilson Wait, com
mander of Medford Post No 15, Amer
ican Legion, on Saturday, September
24, at one o'clock p. m.

A motion In opposition to granting
the plea of Alvln Toll? f son, through
his attorneys, for a further extension
ot 30 daya for filing of briefs in an
appeal to the state supreme court,
was presented yesterday by District
Attorney George A. Codding. The op
posing motion contends that two ex
tensions have been granted and that
any legal points Involved do not Jus
tify further delay.
The defense counsel pleads that
further time Is needed for writing of
the briefs, and that a grave constitu
tional right la Involved, of value alike
to the state and the defendant.
Tollefson Is under a two-year sen
tence In state prison for confessed
perpetration of the Centrnl Point bank
robbery hoax last May. The amount
Involved was about $S00 and the bank
sustained no loss by reason of embez
zlement. All further legal procedure In the
case is In the hands of the state su
preme court, the Jackson county cir
cuit court, or Circuit Judge H. D.
Norton having no further Jurisdiction
in the matter.
WARN OF BOGUS
State police today Issued a warn
ing to merchants and banks of the
city, and the Rogue River valley to
be on the watch for spurious travelers'
checks passed by a gang now reported
as operating In the Eugene and Cor
vallls districts.
According to the atate police the
gang Is hearted south and may try to
operate In this city and Ashland. They
travel by auto and give the Impres
sion of well-to-do tourists.
The checks are purportedly from
the "American Illinois Bank Trust
Company" o;' Chicago, and there Is
no such Institution. The names used
In signing the travelers checks, so far
learned, are "R. W. Price" "Michael
D. Hunt" and "C. C. Talbott." The
checks are poor Imitations of the gen
uine, and are printed on cheap paper,
It Is said.
