was his custom at automobile racing.

Harry Kane, 66, of Oakland, Cel.,
veteran umpire of the Pacific Coast
baseball league, died at his hotel
here last night from a heart attack.
Kane was taken ill In the seventh
Inning of the game between San
Francisco and Portland 'here Tues
day night and had to leave the field.
He apparently was recovering yes
terday but suffered another attack
last night.
Eddie MoLoughlln, another Coast
league umpire, said Kane formerly
was a pitcher In the Coast league
and also In the major leagues.
He Is survived by his widow, of
Oakland.

ter of Admiral Peary, nulled the cord

Mrs. Stafford visited Falcon harbor
where she was born In 1803. For
some years .she waa known as the
'Snow Baby."

film, devoted to Crater Lake and des
tined for national distribution, war
taken In the park during the past
month by Robert Klaiack, Jr., director
of the University Film Foundation of
Harvard university. A recent preview
of the pictures revealed the results
of a high type of photography, In
cluding complete views of the lake
and of nolnt of Interest within the
park not generally known to the vis
iting public.
Th films lnclud an enlightening
record of a typical rim caravan, a
dally occurrence and a popular at
traction for thousands of visitors
during the course of the season. The
beauties of the lake are faithfully
revealed In pictures taken while on
boat trips about th lake and along
th bsses of towering crater walls.
A Crater Lake sunset and Phantom
Ship at sundown are among th most
beautiful scenes, numerous through
out the length of th films.
There are Interesting shots of the
"Plnnaclee." on th east entrance
road, presenting true pictorial con
ceptions of these towering spectral
spires of sandstone. A camera trip
through Llaoa Hallway, along the
west entrance road, Is enllghtlng In
many details of this particular scenic
point.
Mr. Klasack arlved at Crater Lake
from Yoeemlte national park, when
he had spent several weeks filming
a field trip of a party of Boy Scout
naturalists In the country of Yosem-
lt. Th trip was planned and ar
ranged by Ansel Hall, chief forester
and senior naturalist of the national
park service, A preview of the Yo-
semlt films was held at Crater Lake
a few .nights ago.
