The Yankees already have clinched
the 23 -game series with Cleveland.

ton and can get no worse than a tie
with the Philadelphia Athletics. But
With 20 games already in the records,
they have gained no better than a
draw with Washington at 10 victories
apiece. Single games today and to
morrow will clone the season's com
petition between the two clubs and j
give the senators a cnance to win
the series.

The Yankees are almost certain ol
winning the series from the Athletics.
They have won 11 of the 18 games
so far played and need only one more
. victory in the four games remaining
to gain a declMva edge over the 1931
champions. Their record against the
other clubs Is. Cleveland, 13 victories
and six defeats; Detroit, 14 and 3;
St. Louis, 14 and S; Chicago, 16 and
4; Boston, 14 and 4.

Jimmy Bryne of Marshfleld was !
given a draw In a ten round bout
with Bearcat Baker, of Seattle, col
ored flash, at the Armory last night
after being outboxed and outfought
for eight rounds. Bryne was lucky
to break even with his younger foe.
The first five rounds lacked action,
the negro popping Bryne with a left
Jab, and the Coos Bay warrior com
ing to a clinch often. After the
fifth t,he pace quickened, and In the
ninth the fighters got down to heavy
slugging with the black landing the
heavier wallops.
In the final round the pair' alugged
it out, both feeling the effects nt the
heavy bombardment. Tha decision
did not make the Caononball or his
manager happy.
Two or trtrw times during the bout, I

showed flashes of his real speed. :
Herb White of Butte Falls scored a
technical knockout over Young Farm
