Say Pacific Coast
Business Brighter
Three officials of the Maytag com
pany now making a tour over the
country are Impressed with the busi
ness outlook, particularly for the Pa
cific northwest. At the sales meeting
held In Portland, It was predicted
by Roy A. Bradt, vice-president in
charge of sales, that the present up
turn In business la permanent. His
opinion Is based on the Improved
trend in commodity prices and the
wave of confidence that Is sweeping
the country.
This Improvement In business has
been directly reflected In Increased
activity at the Maytag factory, where
1500 men have been added to the
payroll. Sales have Increased mate'
rlally and Mr. Bradt was Impressed
by the showing made In the north
west division where sales Increased
50 per cent In August over July. This
has enabled J. A. Gazelle, division
manager for Maytag Pacific Inter-
mountain company, to add 276 men to
his aalea force.
