export markets have been dispatched
over the Southern Pacific.
General picking of Boscs is sched
uled to get underway this week, along
with the close or the pick and pack
of the second picking of Bartletts and

lighter solid orchards, Boscs were
picked the past week. The main crop
is expected to be pouring Into the
packing houses by mid-week.
The peak of the pear crop Is ex
pected to oe reached by the week of
September 5.
The market was described as "1m
proving," with prospects that by mid
September it would show "some rosl
ness."
Warm weather la needed to ripen
the tomato crop of the Rogue river
valley according to Ralph Koozer, in
charge of operations of the Bagley
Cannery company at Ashland. The
pack was scheduled to start Friday,
but was delayed owing to the slow
ripening, due to chilly nights. Over
200 acrea are under contract for the
pack this season, and the cannery
will employ 150 people while it la
underway.
At the Rogue River Valley Canning
company in this city, operations have
been retarded by both the pear and
tomato crop coming at the same time
The local plant expects to can twice
as many peara as originally planned
The peara have also been slow In

GARAGE IN CONNECTION
FOR COURT HOUSE
All county offices Saturday were in
the mlcit of moving Into the new
courthouse. Business went along aa
usual despite the disorder and the
hubbub. All the county offices will
be transacting business In the new
quarters. County Jail trusties, heads
of departments, and deputies were do
ing the work. They will probably
work all day today In order to be In
readiness for business tomorrow.
The chief problem In the moving
Is the handling of the heavy safes
and vaults. Eads Brothers were busy
all day Friday moving the safe in the
treasurer's office. The safe In the
clerk's office, also promises to be a
difficult Job because of Its size and
weight.
The county court has made all but
the final payments on the courthouse.
No action towards this end will be
taken, until the circuit court issues
an order to that effect. The matter
Is at present held up by a dispute
over wages between the architect and
one of his assistants. About (400 la
involved, and a suit for its collection
has been Instituted in the circuit
court and la scheduled for hearing at
the October term.
