FED BY GIFTS TO
4-SQUARE
The workers of the Foursquare com-
mlu&ry wish hereby to txtend their
thanks and appreciation for the
splendid cooperation In supplying
. food for the many hungry ones in
Med ford. We especially thank the
grocers for giving space In their
stores for the commissary boxes, the
Medford press In calling attention to
th-we boxes, and to all who have so
generously contributed.
We would call attention to one
case of a large family of small chil
dren fed last Tuesday evening from
these boxes.
A box generously filled with food
was delivered to th&t home where the
' seven children were actually suffer
ing with hunger. No food In the
house except a little corn bread and
some pears a neighbor had given.
But that night those children had
a. good meal bread, cheese, vege
tables and went to bed happy,
thanks to some liberal donors.
This need In Medford la surely
pressing. Hungry children wll! still
be hungry tomorrow, unless someone
comes to their rescue. Your gifts of
food wll be eagerly devoured by hun
gry children. Every article you con
tribute goes directly to the needy
ones In Medford. You will see the
commissary boxes at your grocery.
We thank you most heartily for your
contributions.

duplicate!) bill
for farm loans
WASHINGTON, July 29. yp)
President Hoover has given a pocket
veto to a senate bill Intended to
broaden the baae of reconstruction
finance corporation loans to form
cm. .
This was made known today at the
White House, after the time limit
for signing the measure had expired
at midnight. In the absence of the
chief executive's signature, the bill
automatically died. , , ,
It was said In an official White
House quarter that Mr. Hoover felt
the measure had-been -passed In the
confusion, of the last moments of the
recent session, and .that everything
the bill provided already was avail
able under the reconstruction finance
corporation act.
The bill was Intended to extend to
livestock owners, dairy farmers, poul
try producers and farmers raising
crops not maturing until 1D33 loans
given under the $200,000,000 given
the department of agriculture by the
reconstruction corporation.
It was said that provisions for such
loan clearly were made under the re
construction corporation act, and
that the vetoed bill would appropri
ate the same fund to the depart
ment of agriculture, providing a dup
lication of functions.
