Dr. Hargrave Leaves Dr. H. P.
Hargrave plans to return to Berkeley,
Cat., today, after spending a short
while here as guest of relatives. Mrs,
Hargrave and daughter Gertrude will
remain In Medford for a longer visit,
Jones Returns R. E. Jones, local
manager of the Shell Oil company,
returned to Medford by train this
morning from Portland, where he has
been spending the past several days
on business.
Guests of Pratt s Mr. and Mra. Ar
thur Woodcock of Portland are spend
ing several days here visiting Mr. and
Mrs. Gordon Pratt. They plan to
make trips to Crater lake and the
Oregon Caves. Both Mr. and Mrs,
Woodcock are graduates of Oregon

political subdivisions of states, pub
lic agencies of states, or municipali
ties, and of political subdivisions of
states, public corporation, boards and
commissions, and publlo municipal
instrumental ltiea of one or more
states, to aid In financing project
authorised under federal, state, or
municipal law which are elf-llqui-
dating In character, such loans or
contracts to be made through the
purchase of their securities, or other
wise, and for such purpose the recon
struction finance corporation la au
thorized to bid for suah securities
Provided, that nothing herein con
tained shall be construed to prohibit
the reconstruction finance corpora
tion. In carrying out the provisions
of this paragraph, from purchasing
securities having a maturity of more
than 10 years; j
'(3) To make loans to corporations
formed wholly for the purpose of pro
viding housing for families of low In
come, or for reconstruction of slum
areas, which are regulated by state
of municipal law as to rents, charges,
capital, structure, rate of return, and
areas and met hot is of operation, to
aid In financing projects by such cor
porations which are self-llquldatlng
in character.
"(3) To make loans to private cor
porations to aid In carrying out the
construction, replacement or Improve
ment of bridge, tunnels, docks, via
ducts, waterworks, canals, and mar
