Present Comedy
The Luther Leaguers of Zlon Eng
lish Luthersn church, provided a de
lightful social evening tor the mem
bers and friends of the church last

ments, the leaguers gave the two-act
humorous plsy: "The New Minister
Arrives." Those taking parts In the

young son, Michael, who were guests
here from Portland last week of Mr.

Jacksonville road, were the Incentive

Shrine dance Thursday evening, and
the Ralph Jennings entertained with
a swimming party and picnic supper

The Lundya left Saturday for their

Study Club Gavel
Goes to President
At Ashland Picnic
The annual plcnlo of the Wednes
dsy Study club is always well attend
ed, and this year waa no excoptlon
to the rule. The picnic was held In
the Ashland park on June the 39th,
and seventeen member, their hus
bands, and other guests, making a
total of thirty-five, gathered round
the tables and did full Justice to the
bounteous fare prepared by the good
times committee. Guests of the club
were. Mesdames Morris, Mundy. Rob
inson. Vilas. Misses Jsne 8nedlcor and
Faye Woolsey. Judge Colvig was also
present, and added much to the
pleasure of the evening. At a brief
business meeting called by the presi
dent, Mrs. Miles, all matters pertain
ing to the past year were concluded.
Mrs. M. M. Morris was unanimously
elected to membership, and a rising
vote of thanks was given Mrs. F. K.
Deuel and her committee, for their
never-falling ability to provide "good
tlmea" for the club In the post two
years. Ending her two years as
president of the Wednesday study
club. Mrs. Miles presented the gavel
of office to her successor. Mrs. J. H.
Cochrsn, who announced her com
mittees for the coming year, after
which the club adjourned to meet
again In September. A cordial Invi
tation to her home on Thursday, July
IT to greet Mrs. John Carkln, was
given by Mrs. A. J. Hanby.

ding will be solemnized at the Wilson
residence Saturday evening. July 10.

butterflies polled on the nut cups at
the three small tables.

Bible School Ends
With Fine Program
At Friday Session
The Dally Vacation Bible school,
which opened June 30 and closed
with a program and demonstration
Friday, was described as a great suc
cess. There were 120 pupils, repre
senting eight denominations. In at
tendance. Pupils were Instructed by a faculty
of 10 teachers from the Christian and
Presbyterian churches. Rev, W. R.
Balrd led the music and taught the
adult class In the New Testament.
Rev. E. Iverson gave several talks,
which proved helpful and Mrs. W. 8.
Gil more was general supervisor of the
school.
At the closing program each de
partment gave a demonstration of
Its work. The primary department
dramatizing the Baby - Moses, the
Juniors the Prodigal Son, and the
Intermediate class presenting a Book
of Golden eeds. compiled during
the school session.
Rev. Llppltt of Iowa, who waa here
during the two weeks of the school,
gave the pupils some valuable sug
gestions, which were used In compil
ing the Book of Golden Deeds. This
group also recited the 121st Psalm.
Rev. Balrd entertained with four
readings.

heart," played by Master Roger Wolf,

stopped here last week on their way
to Portland and were guests of Mrs.
Paul Orelner and Mr. and Mra. Ed
ward C. Kelly at their home on Ore
gon Terrace.

to spend the summer with her par
ents, Mr. and Mrs. M. E. Oleason. She
will be Joined there later In the sea
son by Dr. Paige of Oakland.
