Has Treasure Hunt
Ths Presbyterian Christian En
deavor group enjoyed a treasure hunt,
swimming party and welner roast last
evening, accompanied by Mr. and
Mra. Keuhnle. The path of the hunt
wound through the Old Stage road
aectlon, back to the airport, and on
to Bybee bridge, where swimming
and welner roast completed the even
ing. There were 30 guest In the
party.

DELAYED TO FRIDAY
There wu no seaalon of the county
court today. It being postponed until
Friday next, when necessary bills
and matters will be signed. The
postponement waa due to the pres
sure of private business matters
or members of the court. No press
ing matters were scheduled for at
tention today. County Judge Lam
kin was attending to private mat
ters In Ash land, and expected to
spend a couple of hours at his office

According to Deputy Dunford the
woman admitted that her true same
Is Eula Phillips; that she hss a sis
ter residing at Tillamook, Ore., and
her mother live at Swain, Arkansas.

ath county authorities, and gave
th nam of Mrs. Rena Johnson.
She waa found on a highway near
Klamath Fall last week in a fam
ished and delirious condition, with
her nine-year-old daughter. She re
ported that she had been forced to
leave an auto by her husband, and
then abandoned by him.
She told the authorities that her
husband was dead, but she had been
touring with hi brother.
The woman and child fled from
the Klamath county farm last Satur
day, and were picked up by local
authorities Sunday.

petty theft, chiefly steeling milk
bottle from porches, and articles
from stores. She alleges that her
male companion was the Instigator
of the theft. The officer further
allege that the woman sought arrest

night the woman became unmanage
able In the women'a ward, pounding
the walls and windows with her

Sixty days furtner extension of
time for the preparation of testi
mony and perfctlon of appeal to the
supreme court has been granted to
Albert W. Reed, Denver, Colo., youth
serving life In state prison for con
viction of the murder of Victor
Knott, Ashland policeman last No
vember. The extension win also
enable Reed further time for the
securing of funds to finance his
appeal, his friends and relatives
being unable, to date, to Talse the
$385 needed. Attorney Ous New
bury, his chief counsel, .said, he
was willing to contribute iioo or
this siim. Reed's appeal Is bajed
upon new evidence, supporting his
trial contention that he was not
at the scene of the shooting, that
the murder was committed by hts
two pals Paul McQuade and Lee
Jackson fugitives from a Jackson
county murder indictment for first
degree murder, and alleged discrep
ancies In the testimony of Police
man Roy Laymen of Ashland, star
witness for the state.

At noon today the members of
Headquarters company and Company
A, 186th Infantry, National Ouard,
arrived back In Medford on a special
train, having spent two weeks at
the Camp Clatsop training camp
for annual training and maneuvers.
The boys reported a wonderful
time at camp, although the weather
was rather cool. Captain Carl Y.
Tcngwald was In charge of the
Ouards.
Upon arrival of the train, trucks
carried away the baggage and equip
ment, and the Ouards marched to
the Armory In formation.
Ashland's coast artillery unit waa
aUo in the special train, and con
tinued south shortly after noon.

Emigrant Dam. was made this morn
ing by State Policeman Joseph Pol
som. State Policeman Polaom atates that
mixed nude bathing parties have been
going on for some time at the upper
end of Emigrant Dam, nearly a mile
from the Pacific Highway. Folaom
says that the asserted nudist post
a lookout on top of an auto, who
sounds an alarm whan anyone ap
proaches. He states that Sunday eren
lnga are th most popular date. A
persistent effort has been mad to
top the practice, he aya.
It is further sot forth that th
nude swimming hs nothing to do
with th arrest of Ashland boy and
girls yesterdsy. alleged to have stolen
a chicken, and attempting to cook It
on the bank of Bear Creek. The
stata policeman state that all con.

tionally garbed. An Ashland girl on
parole, waa detained,
