TRUCKMEN MEET
HERE TOMORROW
Lumberman, truck drivers, truck
and mill owners will meet In this
city from all sections of southern
Oregon Wednesday night to organ! re
opposition to the proposed state
law, which would reduce by 50 per
cent the gross load limit allowed
on trucks operating over state high
ways. Tha lumbermen will meet at the
chamber of commerce building early
In the evening to adjourn In time
to attend the meeting of the Allied
Truck Owners, Inc.', to be held at
tha Armory the aame evening.
The purpose of the contemplated
opposition campaign Is "to keep
trucks operating on the roads ol
Oregon for the protection of Ore
gon markets." Figures released by
the interested parties show that
there are 35.000 people In Oregon
who make their 1 lv 1 n g through
trucks. Sums Invested In trucks
and truck businesses in Oregon to
tal 143.100,000. Trucks and busses
pay more than 1 2, 000,000 annually
toward Oregon's road investment and
road upkeep.
At the meeting at the Armory,
opening at 7:30 o'clock the "real
object of tho Oswald West freight
truck bill" will be revealed, the truck
owners' association announces.

Receipts continue to decrease.
Trade in the butter market appears
of generally steady to firm character.
There was no change In the price for
the week's opening but everything
was cleaned up. Butterfat values are
firmer.
Price of chickens dropped to a new
all-time low record here with buyers
offering down to o for light hens,
0c for medium and 12c for heavy col
ored itock while broiler are as low
as 10c lb.
On country killed spring lamb, tht
extreme top of the market Is 7-70
with the bulk of the tops at 7c.
Market for country killed hogs and
calves is about steady.
First casabas of the season have
entered the early market: a shipment
from the south being unloaded. Re
ported good quollty sales around 4c
lb.
As expected, general price losses
were suffered by the tomato market
for the day. Sales In general were
down about 25c box for both out
door and hothouse stock. Quality in
general is better.
