fclEDFOED MSTL TRIBUNE, MEDFORD, OREGON, SUNDAY, JTHsE 19, 1932. PA'GE FTTH DESTITUTE GIVEN PRACTICAL HELP BY E To the Editor: The Pour Square Light House, at East 5th and Riverside, north, under supervision of Misses Estell Jones and Abbott, Is submitting the follow ing Items of Its activities June 1 to IS: During this period 40 ready-to-wear garments. 8 pairs of shoes, 14 boxes of groceries have been given awsy to destitute local families. All of which has been donated by friends of the commissary for the relief of the needy. Numberless calls were ti.nari eurav ivrtlllM the netcsatuu; supply of food and clothing had been exhausted. It is pitiful to witness the plead ings of those who. without employ ment or funds, come to the light house for aid. It is the desire of the manage ment to be able to be of great ser vice to the unfortunate of our oa community, but In order to do this it has become necessary to ask the public to come to our aid with cast off clothing. Canned fruit, bedding, '!nattreBses, food of all kinds, and especially a refrigerator which some one could spare Is greatly needed. Also donations of money are appre ciated. Not alone do we try to supply the needs of the body, but also bring messages of hope and cheer to dis couraged and helpless people. From morning till night the commissary Is In operation, and then at the night services many are given aplrltual blessing. We are anxious for the public to become rrquainted with the work We are carrying on In this city. The management works without nv or salnrv. The only object Is to be of service to the needy during these stressing times. Anyone hav ing articles for the commissary call the light house or bring to East 8th and North Riverside. No charge Is made for anything. Everything Is given free, under proper supervision. Faithfully and Respectfully sub mitted. ESTELLE M. JONES. Pastor.
