GAP, STAMPEDE
FOR DRY REPEAL
WABHINOTON. Jun 16. (AP)
Friends of the admin tatratlon at the
Chicago convention have nt word
to the capital that they believe the
Republican platform can be held to
resubmission of the prohibition ques
tion rather than a more drastic re
peal plank.
The telephone line between Chi
cago and the White House was open
during the morning and conversa
tions were held by President Hoover's
aides with various of the administra
tion leaders in Chicago.
While all word of prohibition de
velopments were withheld publicity
at the White House, It was ascer
tained on high authority that opti
mistic reports have been received
that a stampede for a repeal dec
laration could be averted.
It was declared last week In ad
ministration circles that the Presi
dent would not raise serious objec
tions to certain forms of resubmis
sion of the prohibition question, but
It was stated he would object em
phatically to any repeal declaration
by the convention.
White House aides today declined
to say whether President Hoover had
received the latest wording of the
formula sought for solution of the
prohibition question at Chicago, and
all comment was withheld concern
ing his latest stand upon the question.

SAVE 3 STEPS
IN BAKING
How msny times have you wished you could have
delicious chocolate cakes and cookies without the
necessity for grating and melting the chocolate,
and mixing it in afterwards, when your batter
is "touchy"?
Use Ghirardclli's Ground Chocolate instead, and
you can save those three steps. Ghirardclli's is in
powdered form and so they are unnecessary. Just
drop your Ghirardclli's into the sifter with the
other dry ingredients.
Ghirardclli's has the full fine flavor that only real
chocolate can have-plus convenience. That's why
it's the West's favorite.
