on a two weeks' vacation trip to

fornia coast points. Dr. Winkle plans
to do some stream, lake, and ocean
fishing before returning here. They

Sergeant Outav Weston, t well
known figure In western military, cir
cles, and resident of Medford sinoe
1815, was found dead in hla bed at
his home, 53 Peach street, Friday
morning where he was believed to
have died of heart attack without
arousing from sleep.
Bora in Wurtemberg. German v.
February 2B, 1863. he was. 89 years old.
He had been in almost continuous
military service since entering Com
pany H., Second regiment of Infant
ry as a private in 1888. He was pro
moted to the rank of sergeant of the
First regiment of Cavalry, Troupe G.
in 1903, and had continued In that
rank until hla death, being subject
to call when ever his country might
need him.
While Theodore Roosevelt was pres
ident of the United States Sergeant
Weston acted as his guide at Fort
Yellowstone, and told many interest
ing stories of events centering around
Roosevelt's visit, which are remem
bered by his many friends in Med
ford. January 18, 1931, Sergeant Weston
married Mary Edwards, whs survives
him, in this city. Her la also survived
by one daughter, Katherlne, 10. and
a brother, Julius Weston of Philadel
phia. Pa.
He was a member of Colonel Sar
gent Post. No, 31, Medford, members
of which will conduct the military
funeral service for their departed
comrade at the Perl home at :30

the Lutheran church, assisted by Rev.
T H. Theumler, chaplain of Colonel
Sargent post.
Interment will be in the Medford
cemetery.
RED CROSS DISPLAYS
PRODUCTS IN WINDOW
CHAMBER COMMERCE
An Interesting display will be of
fered the public in the Chamber of
Commerce windows this week when
Mrs. H. B. Jordan, production chair
man of the Jackson County Bed
Cross ohapter, completes her exhibi
tion, in the process of arrangement
today.
In the display will be shown the
various projects carried on through
the production department of the
Bed Cross. There wilt be Christmas
bags, replicas of the 30,000 sent by
the national chapter to men In re
mote parts of army, navy and ma
rine corps. Laundry bags, bath robes
and bedside bags for men la hos
pitals will be shown. Also housewife
hags, equipped with sewing and darn
ing essentials, which have become
very popular with the men in the
service.
All projects to be Included Is the
exhibit have been provided through
volunteer service, all volunteer groups
of the county co-operating to make
possible the shipments, beginning In
September, to carry cheer and help
fulness to Americans tn many lands.
