STRANGE DEATH
OF
CALLED SUICIDE
HILLSBORO, Or, June 7 (AP)
A verdict of suicide bu ended the
eoroner's Investigation of th death
of Mrs. Bllzabeth Koeber but bu not
necessarily closed the case m far aa
the district attorney' office, u eon
oeraed.
Deliberating only ten minute, a
coroner Jury last night found the
78-yrar-old voman burned herself to
death In the basement of the Free
Method 'jit church here lut Wednes
day. Mr. Koeber was found by her
daughter, the Re. Nathalla Koeber.
pastor of the church, but died with
out making a, statement.
When Mrs. Koeber was found, testi
mony revealed, her body was unclad
and seared by fire. Splinters and
bits of wood were found In her mouth
and throat under a large cloth
"gag." Dr. J. O. Robb, who attended
airs. Koeber, and Dr. Prank R. Menne.
pathologist from th University of
Oregon medical school, testified Mrs.
Koeber, suffering from th burns,
might herself have thrust the bits of
wood and cloth Into her mouth. They
said no marks of violence were found
on her body said from lacerations

homa on tha South Pacific Highway,
early Tuesday morning from a com
plication of disease after an Illness
dating from last December. He waa
tha youngest son of Mr. and Mrs, W.
H. Canon and was born at Merrill,
Wisconsin. November 28. 1884. He
came to ldedford with his parents in
March. 1007.
He was an orchardtst by occupation
and a member of tha Congrefratlonal
church of Pond du Lac Wisconsin.
He leaves hts wife. Myrtle and daugh
ter. Grace, also his parents, and one
brother Vera Canon, all of this dM
trlct.
Funeral service will be conducted
from the Perl Funeral home June 10
at 3:00 p. nv. Rev. K. I verso n offlclat
