' Good News!
OOD news about the Owen-Oregon company I Cooperative
operation on a smell scale' is to be started, by which old
employees are to be guaranteed 60 of the prevailing wage
scale, and a fifty-fifty split on operating profitg. If this plan
is successful, it may lead to the resumption of mill and logging
operations on a large scale,
Which is all to the good, not only for the Owen-Oregon
company but for this community, and Manager Owen is to
be commended for his originality and initiative in evolving
such a plan. It shows a spirit greatly needed at this time, a
refusal to sit idly by and moan about hard times, and a de
termination to meet conditions
best of them.
If the plan foils, there will be nothing lost. If it SUC
CEEDS, a constructive way out of the slough of despond may
be found, not only for the Owen-Oregon but for other lines
of manufacturing in the state.
What Memorial Day Means
THIS is Memorial Day, and it is well to remember that the

This means not only doing honor to them, but it means taking
care of those dependent upon them, their wives and children.

Dr. Jacobl was a general practitioner
