visits to the lake Sunday, are re
minded that none of the concessions
at the lake are open yet, &nd Union

Of Wedded Life
Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Carey, who
reside on the Pacific highway south
of Phoenix, will celebrate their 48th
wedding anniversary quietly at their
home tomorrow.
The couple, who have iade their
home In that vicinity for a number
of years, where Mr. Carey operates a
plant farm, are well known through
out the valley. Mrs. Carey Is the
Mall Tribune correspondent for the
Eden Precinct.
Mr. Carey Is past 81 years old, and
Mrs. Carey, past 65. Both enjoy the

PUPILS PRESENT
Pupils of Mrs. Frank Dltaler's class
opened a delightful program at the
Valley school assembly this morning
with a Chinese dance in which five
little girls, attired as Orientals from
queues to toes, participated. In the
group, winning the .hearty applause 1
of the appreciative audience of pat
rons and friends, were: Nanette Ros
enberg, Jean Schuler, Alicia Ruhl,
Patricia Farrell and Julie Carpenter.
The dance was followed by a clever
skit by the primary class, entitled
The Little Rabbit, Who Wanted Red
Wings." Nina Tut tie appeared as the
ambitious bunny and the other char
acters Introduced by Charley Braley
were Pegjry Scherer, Ruth Stuart,
Susan Vilas, Patsy OeBauer and Bil
ly Patton.
An Afternoon Tea" was the name
given the French skit presented by
Emily Tyree, Charity Hart. Alicia
RiVil, Nancy Clark, Deborah Tumy,
Polly Dean and Barbara Sheldon.
The program waa concluded by sev
eral patriotic numbers, honoring
Memorial day, David Sheldon opened
the observance of the holiday with
essay, explaining the meaning
and origination of Memorial day. The
primary orchestra, led by Chas. Bra
ley, played several patrlotlo airs, their
Jaunty red caps adding much to the
military numbers. Members of the
primary and pre -primary classes en
tertained with songs, and Nancy Day
read the Inspiring poem of the world
war. "In Flanders Field."
Emily Tyree told tfte history of the
southern anthem, "Dixie" and Bar
bara Sheldon read the Gettysburg
Address. David Sheldon then recit
ed a patriotic poem, which marked
the close of the assembly.
