JOHNNY LOGAN
Here's a touching little tribute
to Johnny Logan, late Oregon State
college football star, from Dr. Edwin
R. Durno the Eddie Durno of Ore
gon basketball fame who attended
him in his last Illness:
MEDPORD, May 33. (To the
Sporting Editor) Sir: I read your
gossip column today, and waa much
Interested in what you had to say
concerning Johnny Logan. Though
I had never met John prior to his
fatal illness. If he exhibited the
same flBht on the gridiron as he
displayed In his most recent battle,
ha certainly was a wonderful foot
ball player.
John died of a particularly malig
nant type of influenzal pneumonia,
but even as the end approached, he
was thinking of the other fellow.
Two of hla roommates at Hilt had
died within two days and he w
afraid we were combatting some
strange, mysterious disease. Hla
last words were a plea to find out
jtnd prevent his other friends from
Acquiring the malady. I certainly
' wish to re-emphaslse the game fight
he put up in his last attempt to
help the other fellow. Respectfully
yours.
