RESIDENT KILLED
AMITY, May 31 (AP) Mrs. M. L.
Prunk, about 30, was struck and in
stantly killed' shortly a-fter midnight
by an automobile driven by A. W
Newby. also of Amity. He claimed
the accident was unavoidable.
Mrs. Prunk had been playing bridge
at the home of a, neighbor and was
crossing the street near her home
on north Trade street. Newbry. who
operates a. meat market, was return
tng from McMlnnvllle. Prunk oper
ates a drug store.
Mr. and Mrs. Prunk resided in Med
ford for some time and made num
erous friends here. Mr. Prunk was
employed In Leon B. Hasklns' drug
store before It was purchased by Fred
Heath.

KILLED IN CRASH
ROMS. May 31 (AP) Captain
George Endres, who flew the Atlantic
In 1031, waa killed today In a short
practice flight.
The flier had come here to attend
the convention of Trans-Atlsntlc Air
men opening tomorrow. He made
the trip from Budapest by air. Five
hours after he had landed he took
oft from Llttorlo airfield for a brief
flight with his Hungarian mechanic,
and a few minutes later both were
dead.
Their plane was trying to gain alt!,
tude when the motor suddenly stop
ped, and the ship crashed.

Oregon state police force, received
the Republican nomination for De
schutes county sheriff In Friday's

The Mail Tribune was showered
with compliments for Its quick and
efficient election service Friday nlg'At,
Thanks to a large and capable stalf,
the first returns on the local con
tests were broadcasted by loud speak
er less than an hour after the polls
closed. From then on until after
midnight totals were given the crowd.
and also announced at the three
movie theatres at 30 -ml nut Inter
vals. The service was so far ahead
of all competing services that in spite
of the cold and rainy weather, the
sidewalks and streets in front of the
Mall Tribure office were packed with
cars and people, many remaining un
til the early morning hours. Due to
the slow counting and the unusually
close contests for the important coun
ty offices, no definite results could
be announced but no one seemed to
mind that. According to Impartial
observers the Mall Tribune was three
or four hours ahead of all compet
itors and returns not only covered the
important contests but the entire Re
publican and Democratic tickets.
SIXTY DAYS FOR
THEFT OF HARROW
Charles A. Price, 40, was sentenced
to sixty days In the county Jail, when
Saturday he pleaded guilty before
Judge Glenn O. Taylor, to a charge
of petty larceny.
According to the arresting officer,
Keith Ambrose of the state police,
Price had stolen a John Deere spring-
tooth three-section harrow belonging
to W. M. Kinsel, who resides on the
Crater Lake highway near Trail. The
implement was valued at 930.
Also pleading guilty to a charge
of petty larceny George L. Harmon
was sentenced to 10 days In jail.
Harmon admitted that he had ob
tained 5 from the Smlth-Watklns
service station through a short
change trick.
