MEDFOKD MAIL TRIBUNE. fEDFORD, OREGON, TUESDAY, MAT 10, 1932. PAGE FIVE PETTY LARCENY A wave of petty thieving, that began lsst Saturday night, la sweep ing over the rural aectlona of the valley and baa started to subside, after keeping the state police and the aherlff'a office on the Jump. The loot conalated chiefly of gaso line and oil, aiphoned from farm machinery, apare tires, and groc eries left In autoa. The ateallng la characterized by the authorities aa the work of "homeguards," who are no longer boys. VThe officers received a "tip" that me of the thieving la the wor of people who plan to depart for greener fields and are gathering their supplies. Farmers and orcb ardlsta have been the chief losers and some have had the gasoline tanks of their tractors drained two and three times a week by thrifty souls supposed to be laying In a supply for the summer's motoring. As a retaliatory step some of the farmers are keeping their shotguns handy and not leaving any gasoline In the tanks when the day'a work Is done. Rural folks are also park ing their tractor In range of the family auto headlight and wishing the watchdog did more watching . and less sleeping. Several arrests In the latest petty erlme outbreak are scheduled. G. Circuit Judgo H. D. Norton Is adding the regular term of court thla week In Grants Pass. The next term for this county Is sched uled to begin the fourth Monday of the month. May 28. The docket for this term, from present Indica tions will be the lightest in several months with few civil actions pend ing and no criminal matters listed. It Is doubtful If any session. of the grand Jury will be called as no mattera of consequence are wait ing Inqulstorlal action.
