A total of 176,640 miles was sched
uled to be flown during the month
and the company's aircraft actually
completed 174.000 miles. Approxi
mately 87,000 pounds of air mall
letters were carried between Medford
and other Pacific coast cities.

are investigating clues as to the

Mother "who asks for nothing and
deserves so much" will today have
the thrill of being remembered by
her children and frlenda. For this
Sunday has been set aside by the
U, S. Congress as the day of remem
bering those who have glimpsed the
dlvlneness of life.
The history of the observance dates
back to 1904, When Past Orand Wor
thy President Frank E. Herlnger of
the Fraternal Order of Eagles desig
nated the second Sunday In May ps
the day to "reflre the faith of our
childhood."
Not long after the Inauguration of
the day In the United States, the
custom has spread throughout the
world, bringing Joy to thousands of
mothers, who would otherwise be neg
lected unintentionally.
In Medford churches, as well as
those throughout the nation, moth
ers will be honored In special pro
grams. Florists and greenhouses of
the city have reported large orders
of bouquets and plants to be deliver
ed to the "wonderful mothers' of
Medford.
The keynote program for the obser
vance Is being conducted this morn
ing by the Eagles Aerie No. 2003.

county clerk's office, in ail pre
