Medford, the regular monthly, session.
During the time given to business the
members were reminded that the
fiscal year begins in May, dues being
one dollar since the magazine has
been dropped. Mrs. Bundy reported
on the auocessful plant sale for the
purchase of seed for needy fsmllles.
The president, Mrs. Reames, announc
ed dates of the Flower Show, May as
and 38. the place to be announced
later. Mrs. Cummlngs reported on
the general response to the Glean
Roadside campaign which Is now
under way. The club hopes to be
represented at the state convention
of Garden club, May 31.

H. R. Howell of Grant Pa gav a
very Interesting address on Bulbous
Iris, touching on planting, growth,
cultivation, and care of the bulbs
during the summer resting period,
nd described varieties especially
satisfactory for garden culture. Many
questions were answered concerning
Iris and other bulb and much valu
able Information given. At the con
clusion every one enjoyed examining
the beautiful specimens Mr. Howell
had brought from hla collection of
forty-five varieties. His commercial
planting, five miles west from Grant
Paas, will be at Its beat about May 18

To Give Recital
On Saturday evening. May 14th at
8 p. m. group of students from
th Medford and Orant Pass studios
under the direction of Rosa Black-
more Willett, will be presented In
an Invitational pianoforte recital fol

Throngs of children filled the hall
of the high school Friday afternoon
to celebrate May day with aonga.

day. A canopy of gay colored gauze
lent grandeur to the queen's throne.
The May poles were bung with green
and pink, white and yellow, blue and
white and green and yellow. Each
school waa provided a May pole to
wind.
A beautiful and appropriate musical
program, sponsored by Mlas Harriet
Baldwin, au per visor of music in the
Medford schools, Included pupils from
all school of tha city.

Connar, Eleanor Ourry. Jeanne Lald
ley, Prlscltla Webb and Margaret
Arnold.
Mlaa Mildred Drury appeared aa
Queen Elisabeth and Barbara Lewi
aa the queen of May. The latter waa
carried Into the festive circle by four
boys, followed by the queen's atten
dants and led up to the throne by
Sir Walter Raleigh, to be received by
Queen Ellrabeth.

of physical education, arranged the
afternoon program, enjoyed by a
large and appreciative crowd.

Mrs. O'Neil, Tvonne Smith, Mrs. Tay

Russell and Mlsa Frelda Schneider.

of the boys' gymnasium under the
direction of Mlaa Louisa Hollenback,
art supervisor.
The display Included work from the
varloua grade schools and the senior
high school. Textiles made by the
advanced atudent were among the
most clever entrlea In the display. All
were voted worthy of honorable men

The service waa read by Rev. W.
R Balrd of the Flrat Christian
church before the fireplace, banked
aa an altar with sprays of spiraea,
and deep rose tulips. White tapers
In gold candelabra and purple Iris
completed the setting.
The bride and groom entered the
room from the patio, preceded by
the little Mlasea Natalie and Bar
bara Shelby, twin daughters of Mr.
and Mr. Alfred E. Shelby, matron
of honor and groom's attendant.
Attired In a gown of rose beige
crepe, hand embroidered and trim
med In antique lace with beige hat
and rose slippers completing her
ensemble, the bride formed a lovely
picture. She carried a shower bou
quet of pink rosebuds, lilies of the
valley and orange blossoms, the
latter preserved from the wedding
bouquet of Mr. Sutherlln's grand
mother. Her matron of honor, Mrs. Shelby,
wore a gown of white old lace, a
corsage of rosebuds and red slippers.
The flower girls were pretty In
frock of white trimmed In Irish
crocheted lace.
The ceremony waa read In the
presence of 30 guests, and followed
by a small reception. Mlsa Natwlck.

blue moire with slippers of harm
onizing color, and wore a corsage
of yellow rosebuds. Mrs. Smeck.

In black and orchid with a corsage
of orchids and lilies of the valley.
After the reception Mr. and Mrs.
Sutherlin left by motor for a two
weeks' wedding trip through Califor
nia and Mexico. They will be at
home to their friends after June 1,
at Carglll Court, this city, where
Mr. Sutherlin la associated with the
First National bank.

of her betrothal, haa been employed

luncheon Saturday noon at Hall's
cafeteria, which was followed by an

five were In attendance.
Mra. Una B. Inch, county rural
aupervlsor, presided at the gathering
and reports were given by chairmen
of six study group. These classes
have been conducted during the past
three month.
Miss Margaret Pennington, accom
panied at the piano by Mrs. George
Andrews, sang "Sweet Mystery of
Life" and "All for You," which was
beautifully presented.

ty school superintendent, spoke
briefly on "Forward Look."

Roosevelt and the Valley school fac
ulty and which Is dated to show her
at the Holly on May 14 at 9:30 a. m.
and again at 10:30, Is being esgerly
awaited by all the school children of
Medford.
These particular film were made
especially for the celebration of the
two hundredth annlveraary of the
birth of George Washington and have
the endorsement of the Bicentennial
commission of Wsshlngton, D, O.
It would be of particular help for
the teachers to review briefly some of
the outstanding facta In Washington's
life In order that the children will
be able to derive the greatest benefit
from their ftlma.
