sound reason tor embarrassment over
his prediction early this spring that
Home Weaver would win plenty of
ball games lor the Washington Sen
ators. Already Weaver owns three con
secutive victories, two over the cham
pion Philadelphia Athletics.
Starting with a four-hit shutout
over the Boston Red Sox and Horace
Uaenbee. Weaver beat the A's and
Rube Walberg. T-4, last week al
though he failed to finish that game.

Yesterday Johnson sent him against
the A's again. This time the young
righthander went the route, held the
A's to seven scattered hits while
Washington hit George Earnshaw and

Detroit's amazing Tigers managed
to keep a half game ahead of the
Senators for the Amir!ril league

George Plpgraa pitched the New
Tork Yankees to an easy 9-8 verdict
over the Boston Rex Sox. Plpgraa av

the house a bill to facilitate radls-
countlng of Intermediate credit bank
debentures through the federal re.
serve system.
Senator Stelwer (R.. Ore.) explain,
ed that the measure would give In
termedlat credit banka additional
facilities for acquiring funds from
the federal reserve and enable them
to get money at an Interest rate from
1 to lVi per cent lower than at pres
ent.

With six wins out of seven games In
last week'a series, the Angels emerg
ed today as the leader In the Pacific
coast's lsst weekly tourney. Results
for the week were:
Los Angeles 8 wins. Sacrsmento 1-
San Pranclsco 4 wins, Oakland 3.
Portland 4 victories, missions 3 (one
game rained out.
Hollywood 4 victories, Seattle 8.
Sacramento got her only game of
the series yesterday, taking the first
contest IS to 4. In this game Ca
mllll and Demaree celebrated with
two homera apiece. The Angels came
back to win the second game, 8 to
4, by virtue of Stats' homer In the
seventh and lest Inning.
Reds Take Two.
The Missions got their only two
games yesterday both games being
shutouts, 3-0 and 1-0. In the first
Sams the Missions' hits were good for
two runs. The second game was
tighter still, the single run blossi to
las In the sixth.
Seattle and Hollywood divided
games, the Indians taking the first,
8-4. Quelllch homed for Hollywood
with two on In the third. The Stars
took the second game 3-0, by bunch
ing bite, and- captured the series.
Oaks, Seals Divide.
The Oaks gave the Seals their live
liest series thus far by taking the
morning game 4-3, behind Ludolph e
tight twirling. The home team pound
ed out 30 hits for 15 runs to the
Oaks' 3 In the second contest.
One game was on the elate today.
Portland was to hold the Missions
for the make-up game Tomorrow's
gsmes: Hollywood at Portlsnd, Mis
sions at Seattle, Seoramento at San
Francisco (night) snd Oakland at

LA GRANDE, Ore., April 25. (AP)
C. E. Robertson of Ooldendale,
Wash., died here last night of In
juries' received in sn sutomoblle ac
cident that occurred Friday about
10 miles west of La Grande. Rob
ertson's back was broken In two
places. Robertson, who was driving
Joseph R. Kldd's car, apparently
fell asleep and the machine left the
road, overturning twice.
